Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Kungfumaster Panda responded nicely to take control 150m out after angling into the open upon straightening following his one-off-the-fence run better than midfield. It was his fourth Hong Kong win and first over this Valley trip. He had run well in his opening two runs for his new trainer this season. Owners' Star finished well to grab second in the dying stages after his one-off-the-fence trip behind midfield. He continues to race well after his win 11 days ago in Class Four over the Sha Tin 1,800m. Chater Pins ran on strongly down the outside to fill a placing after travelling second last from his wide draw. He is a winner waiting to happen. Palace Pal just missed a placing, moving near the inside after his rail run behind midfield. He has the tools to get away with a race in this grade. Smiling Time made some ground late through the middle after making his run three from the rear. He appears to be near a bottom. Kowloon Great ran on without menacing after being ridden cold from his wide draw. Favourite Circuit Elite weakened over the final 100m after claiming the front from Red Elysees 200m out. He just was not good enough on his return to Class Four following his Class Five win last month.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight: (91) - LI YUEN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters

PALACE PAL shifted out on jumping and inconvenienced TAILOR MADE.

CIRCUIT ELITE shifted in at the start and bumped KUNGFUMASTER PANDA.

CIRCUIT ELITE then raced in restricted room a short distance after the start between KUNGFUMASTER PANDA which was racing tight outside TAILOR MADE and SURREALISM.

SMILING TIME was slow to begin.

From wide barriers, CHATER PINS, SEATOSKY and KOWLOON GREAT were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching and passing the 1600 Metres, SURREALISM raced keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, PASSING FASHION was left racing wide and without cover.

At the entrance to the Straight, SEATOSKY shifted out and bumped KOWLOON GREAT.

SMILING TIME was shifted out a number of horses in the early part of the Straight to obtain clear running.

Passing the 150 Metres, SURREALISM was momentarily eased away from the heels of TAILOR MADE which shifted out.

After the race, M Chadwick stated that CIRCUIT ELITE, which was stepping up in grade tonight, was not suited by the quick tempo in the early and middle stages.

He said he had to make some use of CIRCUIT ELITE in the early stages to clear runners to his inside which he was able to do approaching the winning post on the first occasion.

He said along the Back Straight CIRCUIT ELITE was inconvenienced on a number of occasions when awkward outside the heels of RED ELYSEES which shifted ground on a number of occasions.

He added that, in his opinion, the rise in class together with the tempo in the early and middle stages resulted in CIRCUIT ELITE not being able to finish the race off strongly.

A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT ELITE immediately following the race found that horse to have blood at its mouth.

A veterinary inspection of TAILOR MADE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

A veterinary inspection of PASSING FASHION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

CIRCUIT ELITE, KUNGFUMASTER PANDA and OWNERS' STAR were sent for sampling.
