Happy Fat Cat never looked back after slipping away by four lengths 200m out after leading easily from gate 12 for a first win at his 11th start. He did build on a placing at the Valley last start but will need to lift on his past form going forward in Class Four. Aca Power ran on strongly two from the right to grab second in the dying stages after showing no speed early on. He was fitter for a run and appreciated the return to the dirt. Punted late, Handsome Guys stayed on well for a placing after chasing the speed three wide without cover. He was fitter for two runs and relished a return to the dirt. Early favourite Raging Blaze weaved a run late near the inside to finish next best after a rails run behind midfield. It was another honest performance. Asian One made a mild bid after travelling one off in midfield. He needed the outing resuming for his new trainer. Theta Hedge held his ground when asked for an effort ridden prominent trying the dirt for the first time. He's limited. Compulsory had his chance after a handy run along the fence as the post-time favourite. He was racing for the first time in 318 days.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three: (123) - CHUNG ON HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

REGENCY GEM stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost a significant amount of ground.

Having regard to REGENCY GEM'S previous record of being very slow to begin, the Stewards ruled that that horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in a series of consecutive barrier trials before being allowed to race again.

ACA POWER began only fairly and then was crowded for room between RAGING BLAZE and COMPULSORY which shifted out.

EUROMISSILE also began only fairly, shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of ASIAN ONE.

COOLCELEB shifted out on jumping and bumped HANDSOME GUYS.

Despite being vigorously ridden in the early stages, STEEL WIN was slow to muster speed.

THETA HEDGE travelled keenly approaching and passing the 800 Metres when being steadied to obtain cover behind ALLOY KING.

Approaching the turn near the 700 Metres, STEEL WIN became unbalanced after shifting in and bumping ASIAN ONE.

At the 400 Metres, ASIAN ONE was bumped by THETA HEDGE which shifted to the outside of HANDSOME GUYS to obtain clear running.

Passing the 200 Metres, THETA HEDGE lay out under pressure and raced tight inside ASIAN ONE.

Throughout the race, HANDSOME GUYS travelled wide and without cover.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of COMPULSORY, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that the horse, which was first up tonight after a long break, did not travel strongly at any stage of the race and near the 700 Metres became unbalanced when racing tight inside THETA HEDGE.

He said after this COMPULSORY continued to travel only fairly and then over the latter stages gave ground as, in his opinion, the horse's fitness gave out.

A veterinary inspection of COMPULSORY immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, COMPULSORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
