Recap by phillip woo

Woodfire Bro drew clear after assuming the lead 400m out from Nordic Sky following a pace-stalking run from a wide draw to ring up a third win from 10 starts. He took advantage of the slow pace but has return this season in top form with a second win from four starts and remains one to follow. Well-backed late Total Power just won a battle for second over Hit The Shot after a one-off trip in midfield. He can bob up now and then. Hit The Shot kept grinding away one-paced after a prominent run on the fence. He ran all right after a win last start at the Valley. Natural Storm stayed on reasonably well for fourth after a wide with cover run better than midfield. It was another honest effort. Firming favourite Five G Patch couldn't real show his true colours after running into jam after jam in the straight drive following a rails run behind midfield. He can be forgiven for the run. Blastoise just held his ground after a one-out, one-back run. Secret Vision came up flat 100m out after making his move 550m out following a wide run near the rear. He didn't get a race run to suit and was tackling 2,000m for the first time.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (178) - BOCHK CROSS-BORDER SERVICES HANDICAP - Class 3 - 2000Meters

FIVE G PATCH began awkwardly.

NATURAL STORM shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of NORDIC SKY which became unbalanced.

ABOVE was steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After passing the winning post on the first occasion, S J TOURBILLON was left racing wide and without cover and after the 1500 Metres was allowed to improve its position, however, continued to race wide and without cover.

Approaching the 1500 Metres, NATURAL STORM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOTAL POWER.

SECRET VISION, which was following NATURAL STORM, was shifted out from behind that horse in consequence.

At the entrance to the Straight, BLASTOISE shifted out in an endeavour to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped the hindquarters of S J TOURBILLON which became unbalanced.

S J TOURBILLON then shifted in when unbalanced, resulting in BLASTOISE being crowded for room outside HIT THE SHOT which at this time was held up for clear running behind WOODFIRE BRO.

FIVE G PATCH was held up for clear running on straightening and was directed to the outside of HIT THE SHOT passing the 400 Metres.

FIVE G PATCH then continued to be badly held up for clear running approaching the 300 Metres.

FIVE G PATCH was again held up for clear running approaching and passing the 100 Metres when awkwardly placed behind TOTAL POWER.

FIVE G PATCH then raced tight outside the heels of TOTAL POWER over the concluding stages.

Because of these circumstances, FIVE G PATCH was not able to be fully tested.

Passing the 400 Metres, TOTAL POWER got its head on the side and lay in and after the 400 Metres was bumped by NATURAL STORM which shifted in.

TOTAL POWER and NATURAL STORM again bumped near the 350 Metres.

Approaching the 200 Metres, NATURAL STORM and SECRET VISION bumped.

NATURAL STORM then raced in restricted room between SECRET VISION and TOTAL POWER passing the 200 Metres.

Near the 150 Metres, TOTAL POWER shifted in and inconvenienced S J TOURBILLON and BLASTOISE.

FIVE G PATCH, WOODFIRE BRO and TOTAL POWER were sent for sampling.
