Recap by phillip woo

Post-time favourite Victor The Winner kept on gamely after rushing to the lead along the inside 900m out to ring up a second win from three starts. He did it in a class record time and his future is bright. Early favourite Golden Express was cutting into the margin late after getting held up for a run until the 300m travelling midfield on the fence. It was an excellent debut performance. Science Patch stayed on well for third without menacing the top two following a prominent run. It was another genuine effort following a win. Texas Moon weaved a run from near last to fill the frame without threatening the top-three. It was a return to form after disappointing following a debut win in February. Sakewin gradually faded after a pace-stalking run. It was a better effort on his opening two runs this term. Scotch Tycoon ran on late without menacing after a patient ride three from the rear. He needed the run off a long break and is better suited at the Valley. Circuit Ten came up one-paced when push came to shove after a handy run. Lord Thunder weakened to beat a couple chasing the speed wide without cover.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (182) - BOCHK WEALTH MANAGEMENT HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

VICTOR THE WINNER and STARFIRE GEMS were crowded for room at the start between SCIENCE PATCH which shifted in and GOLDEN EXPRESS which shifted out after stumbling on jumping.

TRAVEL GOLF and ULTRA EXPRESS bumped shortly after the start.

After this, TRAVEL GOLF and ULTRA EXPRESS were shifted across behind runners.

TEXAS MOON was also steadied on jumping and shifted across behind runners.

Passing the 1150 Metres, CIRCUIT TEN was hampered and taken wider by SAKEWIN which shifted out.

Approaching the turn near the 900 Metres, CIRCUIT TEN shifted out and inconvenienced ISLAND GOLDEN.

ISLAND GOLDEN then got its head on the side and made the turn awkwardly when racing greenly, resulting in ISLAND GOLDEN losing ground.

Near the 550 Metres, STARFIRE GEMS was awkwardly placed behind GOLDEN EXPRESS which in turn was racing close to the heels of SCIENCE PATCH.

TEXAS MOON, which was following STARFIRE GEMS, shifted out from behind that horse in consequence.

STARFIRE GEMS lost its left hind plate approaching the 500 Metres.

GOLDEN EXPRESS was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.

CIRCUIT TEN also had difficulty obtaining clear running after the 400 Metres and passing the 300 Metres was shifted to the outside of LORD THUNDER to obtain clear running.

Approaching the 200 Metres, CIRCUIT TEN was steadied away from the heels of LORD THUNDER (B Shinn) which got its head on the side and lay out under pressure.

After this, LORD THUNDER continued to lay out.

B Shinn was reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he would be expected to make more endeavour than he did on this occasion to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.

Throughout the race, LORD THUNDER travelled wide and without cover.

A veterinary inspection of LORD THUNDER and ISLAND GOLDEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

VICTOR THE WINNER and GOLDEN EXPRESS were sent for sampling.
