Chiron quickened nicely to take control 100m out after saving ground behind midfield for a first win at his 17th start. It was his best run to date from five starts over this surface and trip but he did run well to place two runs ago over 1,400m. Favourite El Valiente had his chance after a midfield run but found one too good. It was another consistent performance. Punted late Fortune Marbo grudgingly gave way after shooting to the lead 250m out following a box seat run. He's building towards a win on either surface. Gold Comet made headway late to finish a distant fourth after making his run five back on the fence. It was a better effort on his past two starts. Speed Force dashed late without menacing after a patient ride three from the rear. He's not genuine. Fortune Triple made some ground from the rear of the field. He went OK trying dirt for the first time but requires a longer trip. Run Run Good ran on without ever looking a threat from towards the rear. He couldn't build on a last start win carrying more weight. Colourful Baron was a non-factor after getting posted wide throughout from beyond midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (464) - CORNWALL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters

SPEED FORCE jumped only fairly and then brushed with FLYING MIGHTY.

GOLD COMET was slow to begin and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

From the outside barrier, FORTUNE TRIPLE was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

COLOURFUL BARON (S De Sousa) raced wide and without cover until near the 800 Metres where it was taken wider when FLYING MIGHTY shifted out to start a forward move.

COLOURFUL BARON was then eased and obtained a position with cover behind FLYING MIGHTY near the 700 Metres.

Rounding the Home Turn, COLOURFUL BARON was held up behind FLYING MIGHTY and in the early part of the Straight continued to be held up after shifting to the inside of FLYING MIGHTY.

COLOURFUL BARON was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of SUPER HORNET when that runner commenced to give ground, resulting in COLOURFUL BARON not obtaining clear running until near the 250 Metres.

After the race, S De Sousa reported that after being held up in the early part of the Straight, when he placed his mount under pressure, it did not respond to his riding and raced disappointingly.

A veterinary inspection of COLOURFUL BARON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

REGENCY GEM raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
