Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (70) - THE HONG KONG COUNTRY CLUB CHALLENGE CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 EXCELLENT PEERS (G033) H Bowman Was slow to begin.
Horse No 3 ALLGREEKTOME (H007) Z Purton Raced keenly in the lead in the early and middle stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 BEAUTY GLORY (E459) B Avdulla A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 CAPITAL DELIGHT (H262) C Y Ho Was slow to begin.
Near the 550 Metres commenced to race keenly and shifted out when being steadied away from EXCELLENT PEERS.
C Y Ho was found guilty of a charge under Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride his mount out all the way to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
Having considered precedent penalties, Jockey Ho's record in relation to like offences and the nature of the breach in circumstances where his mount dead-heated for first placing, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for C Y Ho's licence to ride in races be suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday, 18 October 2023 and to expire on Monday, 20 November 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (10 Hong Kong racedays).
Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 EURO ROCKS (H153) L Hewitson Shortly after the start became unbalanced.
When questioned, L Hewitson stated that he had expected to take up a forward position, preferably with cover.
He said in the early stages when EURO ROCKS was caught wide, he elected to continue forward on his mount to cross LUCKY ARCHANGEL and as a consequence settled outside the leader ALLGREEKTOME.
He added that EURO ROCKS, which was having its first start at Happy Valley tonight, may not have appreciated the circuit and in addition was not comfortable on the "Good to Firm??track conditions.
He further stated that, in his opinion, EURO ROCKS would be better suited on the All Weather surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 LUCKY ARCHANGEL (E385) Y L Chung Was sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 RED ELEGANCE (H241) K Teetan Near the 500 Metres commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from LUCKY ARCHANGEL.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 KEEP YOU WARM (D272) M Chadwick Was withdrawn on 3.10.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore).
Before being allowed to race again, KEEP YOU WARM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Lucky Archangel raced prominently and hit the front down the outside 100m out but had to settle for a dead-heat result with Capital Delight. It was his second win in a row and best effort from 10 runs in the grade. Capital Delight jumped out of his skin after starting slowly and turning the final bend one from the rear. Getting up in the shadows of the post to share the victory, it was his finest of his four local performances. Excellent Peers settled in midfield and finished well to fill a placing. It was another honest effort carrying top weight. Favourite Allgreektome got his own way in front before fading to be the next best. He had no excuse. Punted late, Tomodachi Kokoroe came up flat when asked for more after his box-seat run. He is a better horse at Sha Tin. Red Elegance made a mild bid from worse than midfield. He needed the run. Beauty Glory ran on from the rear without threatening the placegetters. He failed to build on his near miss last time. Euro Rocks tired to finish a distant last after going forward three wide to track the speed. His switch to Happy Valley backfired.
