Recap by phillip woo

Encountered overhauled Champion Dragon 100m out after a prominent run on the fence for a seventh win from 19 local starts. He was suited by the slow pace but did put the writing on the wall after a close second to California Spangle a start earlier. Punted late Champion Dragon found one too good after hitting the front 200m out following a speed-tracking run outside Money Catcher. He's as honest as the day is long despite being 11 points out of the handicap. La City Blanche ran on well from behind midfield to fill a placing. He ran very well despite a slow pace and performing 13 pounds outside his handicap. Straight Arron ran on steadily to fill the frame after making his run open from the rear. It was an improved effort third-up with a suitable rise in trip. Money Catcher weakened after getting all favours in front. He's a year older and had to carry a big weight. Favourite Super Sunny Sing ran on without threatening after a wide without cover trip from behind midfield. He had an excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (144) - THE SA SA LADIES' PURSE (HANDICAP) - Class G3 - 1800Meters

Horse No 1 MONEY CATCHER (G171) A Badel After the race, A Badel reported that MONEY CATCHER travelled comfortably in the lead but failed to quicken in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, may not have appreciated today's top weight of 135 lbs.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 ENCOUNTERED (G236) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 SENOR TOBA (G103) M L Yeung Crowded at the start.

Horse No 4 STRAIGHT ARRON (G435) L Hewitson Approaching the 150 Metres shifted in, resulting in its rider L Hewitson having to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Horse No 5 RUNNING GLORY (G010) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton stated that RUNNING GLORY did not travel comfortably and he had some concern with his mount's action during the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, RUNNING GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 6 TOURBILLON DIAMOND (E054) A Atzeni Bumped at the start.

Horse No 7 SUPER SUNNY SING (G319) M Chadwick Jumped awkwardly.

When questioned, M Chadwick stated that from the outside barrier his instructions were to endeavour to find cover if possible as the connections were mindful that it may be difficult to make up ground when settling too far back in the field.

He said from the outside barrier when positioned to the outside of STRAIGHT ARRON in the early stages, he elected not to take cover behind that runner as he felt SUPER SUNNY SING would not be able to make up sufficient ground in the Home Straight from that position.

He added for this reason he remained racing wide and without cover in the middle stages, however, SUPER SUNNY SING did not travel strongly through that section of the race.

He added that as a result approaching the 900 Metres he elected not to improve forward to prevent SENOR TOBA from shifting out and as a result near the 800 Metres when SENOR TOBA shifted out, he took a trailing position behind that runner.

He stated that when SENOR TOBA did not improve into the event, SUPER SUNNY SING lost momentum at that point but in the Home Straight when shifted to the outside ran on fairly.

He further stated that he felt the manner in which the race was run today and the positioning of SUPER SUNNY SING throughout the middle stages disadvantaged his mount.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 NIMBLE NIMBUS (E249) K De Melo Withdrawn prior to Race 1 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind).

Before being allowed to race again, NIMBLE NIMBUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 CHAMPION DRAGON (G070) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 LA CITY BLANCHE (G371) K Teetan Approaching the 150 Metres was bumped when crowded between STRAIGHT ARRON which shifted in and TOURBILLON DIAMOND which shifted out and away from CHAMPION DRAGON.
