Race Eight : (434) - THE TVB CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 GOOD LUCK FRIEND (D228) Y L Chung Crowded shortly after the start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 ATULLIBIGEAL (G173) B Avdulla B Avdulla pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 200 Metres (see KEEFY).
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 KEEFY (G306) K C Leung B Avdulla (ATULLIBIGEAL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 200 Metres he allowed his mount to improve into a run where there was insufficient room to do so between DROMBEG BANNER and KEEFY, resulting in KEEFY being crowded for room and having to be checked when it lost its rightful running between ATULLIBIGEAL and SUPERB BOY.
B Avdulla was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 25 February 2024 and to expire on Thursday, 29 February 2024 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.

Horse No 6 ALACRITY (H210) K Teetan A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 FIND MY LOVE (H110) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 8 YOUTHFUL DEAL (G340) B Thompson Crowded shortly after the start.
Horse No 9 SUPERB BOY (G335) A Badel Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 10 BERLIN TANGO (E120) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 11 GLOBAL HARMONY (G337) Z Purton The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in whilst they considered if GLOBAL HARMONY had been afforded a fair start.
On the evidence, it was established that as the start was effected, GLOBAL HARMONY refused to jump and took no part in the event.
As the Stewards formed the opinion that GLOBAL HARMONY had not had an unfair start, the horse was declared a runner.
As this was the second consecutive occasion that GLOBAL HARMONY had refused to jump, Trainer D A Hayes was informed that the entries of GLOBAL HARMONY in races and barrier trials will be refused until such time the Stewards make a final determination in respect to the racing future of the horse.

Horse No 12 SILVER KING (H420) M Chadwick Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Atullibigeal split rivals in deep stretch to take control 30m out after pushing Keefy aside for a clear run 150m out following a rails run in midfield for a fourth career win and second from seven starts this term. He's an honest performer. Super Boy found one just too smart after poking his head in front underneath the 100m following a prominent run on the fence. He's itching to get back in the winner's circle with seconds in three straight runs. Drombeg Banner grudgingly gave way after turning the final bend a length on top making his own luck in front. Gummy Gummy ran on steadily for fourth after a one-off trip settling worse than midfield. It was an alright effort but he's likely better suited over the 1,200m. Alacrity ran on without threatening travelling third last from gate nine. He rarely produces a bad run. Youthful Deal made a mild bid after a rails run from behind midfield. Find My Love beat handful from towards the rear. Favourite Global Harmony was declared a runner after staying in the gates for a second consecutive run.
