Recap by phillip woo

Sea Sapphire led and never looked back after straightening two lengths on top for a maiden win at his sixth start. He was able to build on a front-running sixth at his first go over the Sha Tin 1,200m. Super Highway just fended off You'remyeverything after moving to second 80m out following a rail run from midfield. It was a return to form from a better draw. You'remyeverything ran on nicely after a one-off trip from behind midfield to make it close for second. He's a winner waiting to happen. Crazy Treasure came from last at the 650m along the inside to place fourth. He's naturally coming to hand in his five starts. Ruby Sailing had his chance after chasing the winner in third. He's limited. Run Run Timing just held his ground after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He's struggled off big weights. Circuit Fiery made some ground late from towards the rear. Chateauneuf never landed a blow after a one-off trip from midfield following a slow start. It was a disappointing run on face value after a smart debut win.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (505) - NEEDLE HILL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 YOU'REMYEVERYTHING (E413) K Teetan Shortly after the start shifted out and away from SUPER HIGHWAY and bumped SIGHT VICTORY.

Horse No 3 CHATEAUNEUF (J219) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that his mount was stirred up prior to the event and was agitated once placed into the starting gates.

He said as a result CHATEAUNEUF jumped only fairly but then travelled well throughout the early and middle stages.

He added when RUN RUN TIMING did not improve into the race, he then was obliged to shift CHATEAUNEUF to the outside of that runner near the 550 Metres to improve, but his mount responded only fairly to his riding in the Home Straight and raced in a disappointing manner.

Trainer D A Hayes stated that after the horse's first start win on 18 February 2024 the horse was transferred to his Conghua stable where it barrier trialed satisfactorily on 8 March 2024.

He stated that the horse's mannerism behind and in the starting gates today were uncharacteristic but otherwise he could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.

The performance of CHATEAUNEUF was considered to be disappointing as compared to its first race start.

Before being allowed to race again, CHATEAUNEUF will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 SUPER HIGHWAY (G050) Y L Chung Approaching the 400 Metres was disappointed for clear running to the outside of SIGHT VICTORY which shifted out, resulting in SUPER HIGHWAY being steadied and shifted to the inside of that runner to secure clear running.

Near the 200 Metres was directed to the outside of RUBY SAILING to continue into clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 GOLDEN ONE (J010) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Near the 1000 Metres was steadied when crowded by CIRCUIT FIERY which shifted in before being corrected by its rider C L Chau.

Horse No 7 RUBY SAILING (H347) B Avdulla Near the 500 Metres was bumped by COMMANDING MISSILE when racing tight to the inside of that runner.

Near the 100 Metres B Avdulla dropped his whip.

Horse No 8 CRAZY TREASURE (J063) B Thompson From the 600 Metres until the 450 Metres was held up and unable to improve when positioned behind JOY FOR YOU and to the inside of CIRCUIT FIERY.

Horse No 9 SEA SAPPHIRE (H343) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 SIGHT VICTORY (H378) A Hamelin Bumped shortly after the start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm.

Before being allowed to race again, SIGHT VICTORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 11 COMMANDING MISSILE (G210) H T Mo Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be suitable to race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
