Favourite Romantic Warrior just got the better of Prognosis after hitting the front 150m out travelling two to three wide from midfield from an outside draw for a 14th win from 19 starts and fourth straight at Group One level. It was also a record third straight win in the QE II Cup. Prognosis stayed on very well to finish a close second after looping the field three wide 1,100m out to sit fifth without cover 800m out following a slow start. North Bridge kept on gamely for third after dictating the pace from gate three. He found a couple too good on the day but will be returning to Japan in good spirits. Happy Together closing off well to just miss a placing after a rail run from midfield. It was another solid effort this campaign despite being tossed in the deep end. Hishi Iguazu was one paced after a prominent run. Five G Patch came from near last to finish next best. He rarely produces a bad run. Dubai Honour ran on without threatening ridden three from the rear. Massive Sovereign gave up the chase 200m out after being short of room along the inside from the 400m until near the 200m with his bid from towards the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (624) - THE FWD QEII CUP - Class G1 - 2000Meters

Horse No 1 ROMANTIC WARRIOR (E486) J McDonald Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 HISHI IGUAZU (G807) D Lane Approaching the 1400 Metres raced tight to the inside of SWORD POINT which in turn was racing in restricted room to the inside of NIMBLE NIMBUS.

Horse No 4 PROGNOSIS (H820) Y Kawada Bounded on jumping, made contact with the right side of its barrier and lost ground.

From the 1200 Metres commenced a forward move and was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 STRAIGHT ARRON (G435) C Y Ho Approaching the 1800 Metres was eased when racing tight to the inside of HAPPY TOGETHER.

Near the 1400 Metres MASSIVE SOVEREIGN made contact with STRAIGHT ARRON when STRAIGHT ARRON was racing tight to the inside of DUBAI HONOUR (T Marquand).

As a result of that contact, MASSIVE SOVEREIGN shifted out and became unbalanced, resulting in STRAIGHT ARRON having to be checked when crowded between MASSIVE SOVEREIGN and DUBAI HONOUR.

At the same point, MASSIVE SOVEREIGN was also inconvenienced when HAPPY TOGETHER was positioned tight to the inside of ROMANTIC WARRIOR (J McDonald).

Both T Marquand and J McDonald were advised to exercise more care and ensure that runners to their inside have comfortable racing room.

When questioned, C Y Ho stated that after his mount was checked near the 1400 Metres, it failed to travel at any stage after this incident and, in his opinion, this was the reason for STRAIGHT ARRON failing to run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 SWORD POINT (G448) K C Leung From the 1000 Metres raced wide and without cover when it shifted to the outside of NIMBLE NIMBUS.

The performance of SWORD POINT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SWORD POINT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 NIMBLE NIMBUS (E249) A Atzeni Became fractious and kicked out in the saddling stalls, examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.

Horse No 8 FIVE G PATCH (G286) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 9 NORTH BRIDGE (J828) Y Iwata Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 11 MASSIVE SOVEREIGN (J208) Z Purton Near the 1400 Metres made contact with STRAIGHT ARRON, became unbalanced, shifted out and lost ground.

From the 450 Metres until the 400 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind HISHI IGUAZU.

When questioned, Z Purton stated that his mount failed to handle the "Yielding" track conditions and was under pressure from the middle stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
