Recap by phillip woo

After tracking the spped, Mega Bonus took control 100m and kept on well for a third Valley 1,200m from six starts at this level this season. He should find it harder again in Class Three next time out. Embraces ran on strongly near the inside but just missed after a patient ride in fourth last from gate five. It was an eye-catching debut effort. Speedy Chariot closed off well for third after settling on the rail in midfield. It was a return to form at his fifth start this term. Specked late, Kowloon East Star grudgingly gave way after clearing to the lead 900m out from gate 10. It was a return to form but he did win earlier in the term off an identical mark. Newcomer Flying Wrote kept on evenly after chasing the leading pair on the fence from gate two. Hoss came from last to finish next best. It was one of his better runs from a disappointing campaign. Super Eagle weakened after a prominent run. He's had a good campaign but might be on the tired side after 16 starts. Favourite Double Bingo responded awkwardly when asked for an effort after settling one off the rail in midfield. He couldn't build on a debut second last month.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (630) - SAINT-CLOUD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 MEGA BONUS (E184) A Hamelin When questioned regarding the improved performance of MEGA BONUS, Trainer P F stated that MEGA BONUS was advantaged by being down in grade tonight and being able to race outside the lead in the early and middle stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 GOLDEN TITLE (H100) K De Melo Jumped only fairly.

At the 300 Metres was steadied away from THE AZURE.

Horse No 3 DOUBLE BINGO (J309) L Ferraris Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping.

After the race, L Ferraris reported that his mount was able to obtain a handy position in the early stages, but was unable to run on in the Home Straight which he attributed to the early track pattern of tonight's racing favouring horses that were racing on-pace.

Trainer Y S Tsui stated that DOUBLE BINGO had pleased the stable leading into tonight's event and had galloped well on Saturday, 27 April 2024 when ridden by Jockey Ferraris.

He added that DOUBLE BINGO may have been disadvantaged by the "Good to Yielding" track conditions and as the horse is immature, it also resented the kickback during the running of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 EMBRACES (J276) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 FLYING WROTE (J290) Y L Chung In the early stages lay in, resulting in its rider Apprentice Y L Chung having to stop riding and correct his mount near the 1000 Metres.

Then continued to lay in for the remainder of the event, resulting in its rider Apprentice Y L Chung changing his whip through to his right hand approaching the 100 Metres.

Horse No 6 SUPER SIXTY (J071) C Y Ho Bumped at the 300 Metres when being shifted out to obtain clear running.

When questioned, C Y Ho stated that from an inside barrier the intention was to be more forward on his mount, but SUPER SIXTY jumped only fairly and then was crowded between FLYING WROTE and DOUBLE BINGO, both of which shifted ground.

He added that throughout the event SUPER SIXTY hung in and in the Home Straight proved reluctant to shift to the outside of DOUBLE BINGO and as a result he was not able to fully test his mount over the final 300 Metres due to the manner in which it was racing.

C Y Ho was warned in relation to using his whip forward of the saddle on one occasion.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 THE AZURE (J227) K C Leung From the 600 Metres raced wide and without cover.

At the 300 Metres was bumped and became unbalanced when SUPER SIXTY (C Y Ho) shifted to the outside of DOUBLE BINGO in an attempt to obtain clear running.

C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 8 HOSS (H055) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 11 SPEEDY CHARIOT (H193) A Atzeni Approaching the 1000 Metres was crowded when FLYING WROTE shifted in despite the efforts of its rider when racing tight to the inside of SUPER EAGLE.

Horse No 12 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) A Badel Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the left side of its barrier and lost ground.

From the outside barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
