Race Five : (679) - THE HILLTOP IN THE VALLEY 1800M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters
Horse No 2 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
After the race, Y L Chung could offer no excuse for his mount's disappointing performance.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 JOY OF SPRING (H383) C Y Ho JOY OF SPRING, which was in the adjacent barrier to YOUNG BRILLIANT, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 WINNING STEPS (G420) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly.
Horse No 6 CALL ME SUPREME (J202) H Bowman Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 7 PING HAI COMET (H344) A Badel A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 SATIRICAL GLORY (H073) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 ME TIME (J074) L Hewitson From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running between CALL ME SUPREME and PING HAI COMET which was giving ground.
Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out to the finish when positioned tight between KINGLY DEMEANOR and LITTLE FAIRY which shifted out slightly.
Horse No 12 PAKISTAN FRIEND (B370) K Teetan PAKISTAN FRIEND, which was in the adjacent barrier to YOUNG BRILLIANT, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Horse No 14 KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486) M L Yeung After the race, M L Yeung reported that he was instructed to hold a more forward position with his mount being stepped up in distance today.
Horse No 1 YOUNG BRILLIANT (H135) E C W Wong After being placed in the starting stalls reared and became cast underneath the stalls for some time.
Acting on veterinary advice that YOUNG BRILLIANT was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.
Was subsequently found to be lame in its left hind leg with multiple lacerations to its legs.
Before being allowed to race again, YOUNG BRILLIANT will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Subsequently Apprentice E C W Wong was examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining race riding engagements.

Well-backed Satirical Glory kept on gamely after reclaiming the lead from Special Hedge 400m out for a first local win at his 21st start. He had been knocking on the door and was stepping out of a career low in the ratings. Favourite Joy Of Spring wove a run late through the middle to easily grab second after a patient ride three from the rear. He has been racing very well without winning. Flying Mojito ran on steadily for third without threatening the top two after a rails run from midfield. He has been racing much better of late. Special Hedge gradually faded after clearing to the lead 1,200m out from gate 14. He was able to build on an okay fifth last start over the 2,000m. Kingly Demeanor finished next best after chasing the leading pair one off the fence. It was his best effort with a step up in distance from six starts. Little Fairy just plodded after a prominent run on the fence. Call Me Supreme made some ground without threatening with one wider out after a wide without cover trip from behind midfield. Young Brilliant was cast in the gate and withdrawn by order of the stewards on veterinary advice.
