Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Golden Empire tracked the speed from gate two, rolled to the lead 100m out and kept on gamely for a third win from 20 starts. He was able to build on a pair of fourths from outside draws. Favourite Storm Rider ran on well for second after settling fourth along the inside. He can break through shortly after catching the eye in a pair of outings following a switch to the Valley. Sugar Sugar ran on strongly near the inside for third after making his run second last from gate 11. He doesn't know how to produce a bad run over the Valley 1,200m. Golden Rise ran on well for fourth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He's run well to fill the frame in back-to-back runs after a Class Four win. Charming Babe came up one-paced after making his run one off in third. It was an okay effort in higher grade following a win. Rising From Ashes kept battling away after getting impeded 250m out following a one-off trip from midfield. Super Joy N Fun was stopping badly 100m out after clearing to the lead 900m out from gate eight.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (580) - HO MAN TIN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SUGAR SUGAR (G016) E C W Wong From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Approaching the 400 Metres was briefly held up for clear running behind ABSOLUTE HONOUR.

After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position.

He said when SUGAR SUGAR jumped only fairly and was caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to race further back in the field to avoid covering additional ground.

Horse No 2 ABSOLUTE HONOUR (K260) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by RISING FROM ASHES.

Horse No 4 SUPER JOY N FUN (J164) C L Chau Bumped at the start.

After the event, C L Chau stated that his mount raced "flat" A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 GOLDEN EMPIRE (E490) K De Melo Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) K Teetan Bumped at the start.

Approaching the 300 Metres was crowded between GOLDEN RISE and CHARMING BABE which was taken out by STORM RIDER (B Avdulla).

In this incident, RISING FROM ASHES hung in and away from GOLDEN RISE which contributed to it having to be checked to avoid CHARMING BABE.

B Avdulla was severely reprimanded.

Horse No 7 STORM RIDER (J027) B Avdulla Bumped at the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 GOLDEN RISE (H242) A Atzeni Made contact with a rai in the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Shifted out at the start and made contact with SUPER JOY N FUN.

Horse No 9 CHARMING BABE (J513) A Hamelin On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by STORM RIDER.

Horse No 10 CONSPIRATOR (K090) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly and blundered shortly after the start.

Horse No 11 RUN RUN SMART (K080) A Badel From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 12 YOUNG ARROW (J401) H Bentley After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded between PRESTIGE ALWAYS and SUPER JOY N FUN.

In the early stages got its head up and raced keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.

After the event, H Bentley stated that his mount settled further back than intended after being crowded at the start.

He said YOUNG ARROW raced keenly with the early stages of the event being run outside of standard time which resulted in his mount being left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

GENERAL:

1.

After the running of Race 2, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.

As a consequence of this, the official results will show Races 1 and 2 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"

2.

Trainer D J Hall was fined the sum of $2,000 for entering K343 in a barrier trial on Tuesday, 8 April 2025 when that horse was not named at the time of entry.

3.

Adjourned Inquiry - 6 April 2025 Sha Tin Racemeeting - Race 6 (567) LEGENDARY IMPACT - The Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the withdrawal of LEGENDARY IMPACT from the said race.

Evidence was taken from Trainer W K Mo, Assistant Trainer K H Lam, Work Riders S L Lee and C K Sze, and Dr B S Forbes, Head of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy.

After considering all the evidence, the Stewards established that despite having systems in place to prevent the administration of treatment on raceday, subsequent to LEGENDARY IMPACT working on the morning of 6 April 2025, it was inadvertently treated with Swede Clay, a topical treatment which does not contain any prohibited substances and is the usual treatment for the horse post track work.

The Stewards were satisfied that the treatment was an oversight and not intentional conduct.

Mr Mo pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 155(29) for causing the application of the raceday treatment in that he did not have proper processes in place to prevent such treatment occurring.

Mr Mo was fined the sum of $20,000.

A report will be made to the Stables Management in relation to the conduct of the above staff members.
