Winning Ovation travelled prominently on the fence and took control near the 100m for a first local win with a step up to 1,400m. Yuen Long Elite found one too good after spearing to the front from gate five. He's run well in each of his three starts up in Class Three after a win in January. The Absolute ran on nicely near the inside for third after making his run three from the rear. It was clearly his best run from four runs in this grade after opening with a win in Class Four. Pope Cody finished nicely down the outside to just miss a placing after having to alter course near the 100m following a patient ride two from the rear. It was a much-improved effort at his second local run. Super Infinity produced a grinding effort after travelling one off better than midfield. It was another honest run. Brilliant Express kept on one-paced after a prominent run wide without cover the entire trip from gate 13. He had an excuse.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eleven : (649) - AUSTIN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 BRILLIANT EXPRESS (J321) B Avdulla Lay out under pressure over the final 200 Metres and approaching the 100 Metres made contact with POPE CODY.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 2 THE BOOM BOX (K076) Z Purton Bumped shortly after the start.

After the event Z Purton stated that his mount travelled only fairly throughout the race.

He said when placed under pressure in the Home Straight THE BOOM BOX did not respond to his riding and after becoming awkward in its action near the 300 Metres he did not ride the horse out to the finish when he was concerned there may be something amiss with it.

Trainer W Y So advised THE BOOM BOX had pleased him leading into the race and he would now liaise with the connections to consider as to whether the horse should be given a let-up before its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of THE BOOM BOX was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, THE BOOM BOX will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 NEW FUTURE FOLKS (J418) B Thompson Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 4 POPE CODY (K313) J Orman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Lay out under pressure in the Home Straight and approaching the 100 Metres made contact with BRILLIANT EXPRESS due to both runners shifting ground.

Horse No 5 LUPO SOLITARIO (J495) L Ferraris Between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of SUPER INFINITY.

Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race.

Before being allowed to race again, LUPO SOLITARIO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 6 PRESTIGE RICKY (K009) C L Chau Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between SUPER INFINITY which was taken out by YUEN LONG ELITE and THE BOOM BOX which shifted in.

In the middle stages raced keenly.

Approaching the 50 Metres was steadied to avoid NEW FUTURE FOLKS (B Thompson) which shifted out when giving ground.

B Thompson was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 7 SUPER INFINITY (J320) H Bentley Bumped shortly after the start.

Horse No 8 WINNING OVATION (K350) A Badel Made contact with the left side of its starting gate on jumping.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 YUEN LONG ELITE (J272) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 MR VIGOR (K164) H T Mo From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

In the middle stages raced keenly.
