Race Eight : (657) - DEAUVILLE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 M UNICORN (G466) E C W Wong After the event Apprentice E C W Wong reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 KEEFY (G306) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 LEGENDARY YEARS (K286) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its starting gate.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 SAMARKAND (H070) K Teetan Approaching the 1400 Metres got its head up when being steadied to allow HIGHLAND RAHY to cross.
Approaching the 250 Metres was bumped by LUCKY TOUCH.
Horse No 6 CHARITY TOGETHER (K254) A Hamelin Jumped only fairly, shifted in and then was steadied to avoid KEEFY.
Horse No 8 WIN BEAUTY VIVA (K368) B Thompson From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 CASA ROCHESTER (J494) L Hewitson Approaching the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind QUANTUM PATCH and over the final 100 Metres could not be fully tested when positioned behind LUCKY TOUCH.
Horse No 10 LUCKY TOUCH (J203) Z Purton Approaching the 250 Metres shifted out and made contact with SAMARKAND when attempting to improve to the outside of KEEFY.
As a result LUCKY TOUCH was briefly held up approaching the 200 Metres.

Keefy tracked the speed, claimed the lead 150m out and kept on gamely for a fourth win from 34 starts and first from 11 outings this term. He did produce a better run two runs ago over 1,400m and trialled well. Post-time favourite Lucky Touch ran on nicely for second after a rails run from midfield. He's as honest as the day is long. Highland Rahy succumbed late after dictating the pace from gate seven. He's holding his condition well. Quantum Patch kept on well for fourth but did have his chance in the box seat. He's not a prolific winner but rarely produces a bad run over the Valley 1,650m. Casa Rochester ran on late for fifth after making his run five back on the fence. It wasn't a bad effort up in grade off a lighter weight following a win. Samarkand only plodded after a one-out, one-back run. He'll need to drop further in the handicaps. Fortunate Son made only a mild bid after a one-off trip from midfield. He couldn't build on a placing last start. M Unicorn never landed a blow after making his run three from the rear. He requires a stronger pace.
