Recap by phillip woo
Punted late Californiatotality enjoyed a lovely run in the box seat before taking control 50m out for a fifth win and first at the Valley from 10 starts this term. Favourite Soleil Fighter succumbed late after hitting the lead 300m out following a speed-tracking run from the widest draw in the seven-horse field. He continues to add to his good form this season at the Valley. C P Brave sustained his move from last at the 700m for third. He's not easy to get right. Woodfire Bro stayed on for fourth along the inside after a rails run from midfield. It was his best result from eight straight runs after a Valley success off a rating four points higher in September. Helene Feeling kept on one-paced after a prominent run. He has been a terrific money spinner in 11 runs for connections this term but does appear from his past couple of starts to possibly need a break. Nimble Nimbus didn't find much when asked for an effort travelling one from the rear. He's not racing well. Telecom Fighters tamely faded after getting headed for the lead despite getting his own way in front from gate six.
