Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (701) - RUSSIAN EMPEROR HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 MEOWTH (J487) H Bowman Near the 200 Metres was steadied to avoid MONARCH COUNTY.
When questioned H Bowman stated that his instructions were to go forward and lead if circumstances permitted.
He said in the early stages he rode his mount along to comply with his instructions but MEOWTH did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position, particularly with the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time.
He added in the Home Straight MEOWTH responded only fairly to his riding and after being crowded near the 200 Metres did not finish the race off thereafter.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 SUPER LOVE (K118) K Teetan Over the concluding stages made contact with MONARCH COUNTY due to both runners shifting ground.
Horse No 4 MONARCH COUNTY (J421) E C W Wong Over the concluding stages made contact with SUPER LOVE due to both runners shifting ground.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 BIG STRIDE (K194) J Orman Jumped only fairly and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded by SPEEDY TRIDENT which was taken in by DO YOUR PART which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
Horse No 6 KA YING GLORY (K247) Z Purton Noted to have blood in the mouth after the race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 BEAUTY LIVE (G057) A Hamelin Bumped at the start.
Near the 200 Metres became unbalanced when crowded between MEOWTH which was taken in by MONARCH COUNTY (Apprentice E C W Wong) and BLING BLING GENIUS which was taken out by YODA'S CHOICE (B Thompson) which shifted out.
Both Apprentice Wong and B Thompson were reprimanded.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that BEAUTY LIVE had sustained a cut to the right hind leg.
Horse No 9 DO YOUR PART (J444) L Ferraris Crowded at the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 FLYING DOUBLE (J388) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly.
When being shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier got its head up and raced keenly in the early stages.
In the Home Straight hung in and for some distance near the 400 Metres proved reluctant to shift to the outside of SUPER LOVE.
Horse No 11 SUNNY Q (J223) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start became unbalanced when it shifted out and made contact with HE WAS ME.
For some distance near the 400 Metres was held up for clear running behind YODA'S CHOICE.
Horse No 12 BLING BLING GENIUS (J397) L Hewitson Near the 200 Metres was steadied when crowded by YODA'S CHOICE which shifted out.
Horse No 13 HE WAS ME (J535) Y L Chung On jumping bumped with BEAUTY LIVE and shortly after became unbalanced when it made contact with SUNNY Q.
Leaving the 1300 Metres was eased when crowded between BEAUTY LIVE and MONARCH COUNTY.
Horse No 14 YODA'S CHOICE (J146) B Thompson After the event B Thompson stated that the intention was to hold an on-pace position behind the leaders as connections had felt the horse would not show sufficient pace to lead the event.
He said after being crossed by DO YOUR PART in the early stages YODA'S CHOICE settled slightly further back than anticipated when DO YOUR PART was crossed by KA YING GLORY.

Late-fancied favourite Do Your Part edged clear after hitting the lead near the 100m following a box-seat run for a first local win at his ninth start. He had shown a bit more spark in three prior starts. Ka Ying Glory succumbed late after working to the lead from gate 11. It was a much-improved effort following a gear change and step up to 1,400m. Punted late, Sunny Q ran on well for third after a rails run from behind midfield. It was his best effort from five starts following a move to a tongue-tie. Yoda's Choice stayed on for fourth from better than midfield. It was his best run from nine outings in Class Four this term. Early favourite Monarch County peaked on his move 100m out following a wide trip with cover travelling behind midfield. The move to a seven-pound claimer failed to produce the desired result. Super Love got going late to just miss fifth after making his run five back and one off the fence.
