Recap by phillip woo

Golden Darci after a patient ride from fourth last dashed nicely near the inside to take control 60m out for a second win on his return to the Valley 1,200m and first in Class Four from his past three starts for his new trainer. Tactical Command was another to make good ground late near the inside to grab second in the concluding stages. He was able to build on a fourth last start but did appear to enjoy the sting out of the ground. Denfield stayed on well for third after a prominent run wide without cover the entire trip from gate seven. He should get away with a race shortly if he remains in the grade. Fortune Warrior grudgingly gave way after rushing straight to the front from gate nine. It was a better effort on his past three starts across both surfaces. Bowser gradually faded following a speed-tracking run from gate 11. It was another honest effort. Odds-on favourite Bienvenue just held his ground when asked for an effort after recovering from a sluggish start to sit wide with cover travelling midfield. He couldn't build on a last start win. Loving Vibes whacked on one paced after a one-off trip from better than midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (732) - THE CRICKET CLUB VALLEY STAKES (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 DENFIELD (G471) E C W Wong When questioned Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his mount was a little fractious in the starting gates and as the start was effected he had his hand on the barrier partition.

He said as a result DENFIELD jumped only fairly and then after shifting out and making contact with TACTICAL COMMAND his mount was unable to take up a more forward position.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 2 BIENVENUE (J490) Z Purton Near the 1100 Metres was steadied to avoid FREE PONY (C L Chau) which shifted in when not clear.

C L Chau was reprimanded.

Near the 250 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters by CIRCUIT DUFFY which lay in.

When questioned Z Purton stated that his mount jumped awkwardly, shortly after the start shifted out and away from GOLDEN DARCI, made contact with LUCKY KING and as a result he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to hold a forward position.

He said BIENVENUE then raced keenly in the early and middle stages and after shifting to the outside of DENFIELD leaving the 500 Metres it then raced tight to the inside of CIRCUIT DUFFY for some distance thereafter before finishing the race off only fairly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, BIENVENUE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 BOWSER (H460) L Ferraris After the event L Ferraris reported that his mount hung out making the Home Turn.

Horse No 4 CIRCUIT DUFFY (J501) M F Poon Shortly after the start was bumped by LUCKY KING and became unbalanced when racing tight to the inside of FREE PONY.

From the 800 Metres was left racing very wide and without cover.

Near the 250 Metres lay in and made contact with BIENVENUE.

Horse No 6 FORTUNE WARRIOR (H229) K Teetan After the event K Teetan stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position.

Trainer D Eustace confirmed the instructions issued.

Horse No 7 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) A Badel On jumping was crowded between DENFIELD and FORTUNE WARRIOR, both of which shifted ground slightly.

When caught wide in the early stages was shifted across behind runners approaching the first turn to obtain a position closer to the rail.

Between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres was held up for clear running when being shifted to the inside of GOLDEN DARCI to improve.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 LOVING VIBES (J359) A Atzeni After the event A Atzeni reported that his mount raced too keenly in the early and middle stages.

He said when placed under pressure in the Home Straight LOVING VIBES did not appreciate the "Good to Yielding" track conditions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 AMAZING KID (K434) J Orman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
