Recap by phillip woo

Slotting into midfield one off with cover from gate 10, Smiling Emperor ran on nicely near the outside to just get up in the last stride for a maiden win at his 10th start. He had given a good sight for fifth at his initial run down in Class Five last month. Windicator Family was just denied late after poking his head in front 50m out after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He's holding his condition very well to fill the placings in three straight runs after a win. Beau Gosse was narrowly beaten after moving to the lead 100m out following a box-seat run. He proved a runner-up result last start was not a fluke. Post-time favourite Foremost Teddy stayed on well for fourth after settling in the one-one spot from gate four. It was another honest effort. Harry's Hero got going late for fifth but left things too late after making his run second last from gate eight. Shinkansen weakened late after a tactics change to dictate the running from gate seven with a step up to 1,650m. He's in the right grade but prefer him over a shorter distance. Punted late Fairy Horse only plodded after a handy run along the inside.
