Recap by phillip woo

Aerovolanic settled prominently and responded nicely after a gap presented 150m out to get up in the concluding stages for a smart debut win. He's got the tools to head higher. Tourbillon Golfer kept on very well for second after leading one off outside King Alloy from gate four. It was an impressive debut and he'll be winning a race in no time. Rainbow Seven just got up for third after a rails run from midfield. He's run well to place in each of his three starts and a win is around the corner. Northern Beaches finished well near the outside to just miss a placing after coming off heels for a clear run 250m out travelling two from the rear. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Post-time favourite Sea Sapphire whacked on one-paced after sitting third with cover from gate five. King Alloy was stopping 100m out after prompting the pace along the inside from gate one. Autumn Vibes couldn't obtain a clear run from the 200m until the 100m following a patient ride fourth last from gate eight. He should have finished closer.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (758) - HKU HERITAGE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 NORTHERN BEACHES (H266) H Bowman Near the 250 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of CHAMPION METHOD to obtain clear running.

Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration as to whether there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection against RAINBOW SEVEN being declared the third placegetter.

When the Stewards were satisfied that the slight contact between the two runners over the concluding stages was due to both runners shifting ground and having regard to the minor nature of the contact, they were satisfied there were not sufficient grounds and therefore declined to lodge a protest/objection when connections elected not to do so.

Horse No 2 AUTUMN VIBES (K150) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid RAINBOW SEVEN.

Approaching the 150 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between SEA SAPPHIRE and AEROVOLANIC, both of which shifted ground.

Horse No 3 RAINBOW SEVEN (K145) K C Leung Jumped awkwardly.

Near the 1000 Metres was steadied when crowded between AEROVOLANIC which shifted out slightly and FLYING DOUBLE which shifted in when racing ungenerously despite the efforts of its rider.

Approaching the 400 Metres shifted to the outside of SEA SAPPHIRE to improve and as a result made contact with CHAMPION METHOD.

Horse No 4 AEROVOLANIC (K400) E C W Wong Leaving the 200 Metres rider Apprentice E C W Wong dropped his whip.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 NO OTHER CHOICE (K049) A Hamelin Jumped awkwardly and shortly after was steadied when crowded between WINNING DIAMOND and CHAMPION METHOD, both of which shifted ground.

Horse No 6 TOURBILLON GOLFER (K320) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 WINNING DIAMOND (K216) Z Purton Bumped on jumping.

Approaching the 900 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid NORTHERN BEACHES.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 BULLISH PRIDE (K181) Y L Chung Was left racing wide and without cover from the 900 Metres.

Horse No 9 SEA SAPPHIRE (H343) B Thompson Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 CHAMPION METHOD (H366) P N Wong Bumped approaching the 400 Metres.

Horse No 12 FLYING DOUBLE (J388) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.

When questioned K Teetan stated that the intention was to hold a slightly more forward position but he was unable to do so when his mount did not show sufficient pace.

He said throughout the early and middle stages of the event FLYING DOUBLE raced very ungenerously, got its head up and refused to settle.

He added whilst being crossed by CHAMPION METHOD (Apprentice P N Wong) when that runner shifted in when not quite clear, he was obliged to ease to avoid the heels of CHAMPION METHOD.

Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.

He said after being steadied away from CHAMPION METHOD near the 450 Metres FLYING DOUBLE then did not finish the race off thereafter and he attributed the performance to the racing manners of the horse.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
