Gallant Crown travelled third just off the fence before surging to the lead 250m out and finding enough to hold off firming favourite Circuit Fiery for an eighth career win at his 67th start. Circuit Fiery made it close on the wire after getting slightly impeded 350m out following a rails run from midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen in this grade. Team Happy battled on for third after chasing the leader Tsuen Wan Glory on the fence. It was an improved effort on recent runs following a downgrade. Ninja Derby just held his ground to narrowly take fourth after a prominent run on the fence. It was his best effort from three attempts at 1,400m. Tattenham ran on steadily to just miss a top four spot after a one-off trip from midfield. He tends to perform better at the city track.

Race One : (787) - KAM TIN RIVER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 GALLANT CROWN (D359) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 CIRCUIT FIERY (H475) Z Purton Near the 350 Metres was disappointed for clear running between GALLANT CROWN and SUPERB MOVE which resulted in CIRCUIT FIERY being held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 LUCKY GOLD (G112) K De Melo After the event K De Melo stated that after jumping awkwardly and losing ground his mount never travelled throughout the race and finished the race off only fairly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 FOREMOST TEDDY (J058) L Ferraris Bumped at the start.

After the event L Ferraris confirmed that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Trainer C S Shum confirmed the instructions and advised such instructions were issued due to the expected fast pace in the early stages to offset the wide barrier draw.

Horse No 6 NINJA DERBY (H339) Y L Chung Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start.

Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

In the early stages raced keenly and got its head up.

Horse No 7 BRAVE OF FRIENDS (J382) J Orman Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 8 PERFECTO MOMENTS (J003) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start raced tight to the inside of GALLANT CROWN which shifted in slightly.

Horse No 9 SILVER DESTINY (J096) M F Poon Crowded shortly after the start by URBAN TRIUMPH which shifted out.

For some distance leaving the 1000 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from PERFECTO MOMENTS.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and also found the horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Before being allowed to race again, SILVER DESTINY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 10 URBAN TRIUMPH (H200) K C Leung Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 11 TATTENHAM (H121) A Hamelin In the early part of the Home Straight lay in and proved reluctant to shift to the outside of SUPERB MOVE.

A Hamelin was warned in relation to using his whip forward of the horse's shoulder.

Horse No 12 TSUEN WAN GLORY (E403) M Chadwick Shifted in on jumping and was bumped.

After the event M Chadwick stated that from the outside barrier he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to cross to the lead.

He said as a consequence the horse was left without a finishing effort when under pressure in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of TSUEN WAN GLORY, a last start winner, was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race start.

Before being allowed to race again, TSUEN WAN GLORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
