Recap by phillip woo

Rising From Ashes travelled midfield on the fence and responded nicely when popped the question to take control 100m out for a fifth win from and first over 1,400m from 40 starts. Beauty Bolt just won a battle for second after a one-off trip from better than midfield. It was a smart effort at his first local start. Beauty Alliance ran on well near the inside to just miss second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was another good effort with a step back in distance. Ragga Bomb came from last and widest out to add a tonne of value to the quartet. It was clearly his best effort from five starts. One More gradually faded after dictating the pace from gate 10. It was an improved effort following a change in tactics. Luck Is Back made inroads late for sixth after making his run near the rear. The Red Hare kept on all right after a torrid trip from midfield. Firming favourite Ka Ying Attack was disappointing after a speed-tracking run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eleven : (797) - TAN SHAN RIVER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 BEAUTY ALLIANCE (J260) K Teetan Bumped on jumping.

Near the 1100 Metres was steadied to avoid TOP DRAGON.

Horse No 3 KA YING ATTACK (J391) M F Poon A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 TOP DRAGON (J481) Z Purton Approaching the 400 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between BEAUTY BOLT and WAVE GARDEN which was commencing to give ground.

After being shifted to the inside of WAVE GARDEN leaving the 400 Metres TOP DRAGON was then able to be ridden out until near the 250 Metres when it was steadied when disappointed for clear running between SUGAR SUGAR and FIND MY LOVE which resulted in TOP DRAGON being held up between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres.

Over the final 150 Metres TOP DRAGON could not be fully ridden out when awkwardly placed close to SUGAR SUGAR.

Z Purton was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1100 Metres he endeavoured to improve into a run where there was insufficient room to do so between RISING FROM ASHES and THE RED HARE, resulting in TOP DRAGON having to be checked when disappointed for that run and also resulting in BEAUTY ALLIANCE, which was following, having to be steadied to avoid TOP DRAGON.

In accordance with previous practices, Z Purton was fined the sum of $120,000 in lieu of a two-day suspension.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 ONE MORE (K261) J Orman After the event J Orman stated that the intention was to hold an on-pace position preferably with cover.

He said in the early stages he elected to continue forward to cross runners to his inside which resulted in his mount leading the event.
