Recap by phillip woo

Riding Together chased the leader and favourite Ka Ying Glory before moving to the lead 250m out and proving too good for a first win at his ninth local start. The move to visors worked the oracle after filling the frame in three prior starts. Specked late Lucky Sam Gor stayed on well for second after improving around the field to sit wide travelling midfield 800m out from gate 14. He had flashed ability in his opening five starts and a win is around the corner. Sugar Ball ran on nicely for third after a wide with cover trip travelling behind midfield from gate 12. He's always a chance at this level. Roman Crown ran on late for fourth after a patient ride fourth last from gate one. He's given a good sight in his past two starts. Beauty Missile ran on late down the outside for fifth after biding his time second last from gate 10. He can bob up at any moment on his current rating.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (795) - SHAN PUI RIVER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 2 RIDING TOGETHER (K081) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 KA YING GLORY (K247) Z Purton Noted to have blood at the mouth on arrival at the Start.

Was examined by Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Bumped at the start.

After the event Z Purton stated that his mount raced too keenly in the early and middle stages and as a result gave ground in the Home Straight.

Trainer D A Hayes concurred with the views of Jockey Purton and also advised that KA YING GLORY was unsuited by the delay of the start of this race due to the late withdrawal of SECOND TO NONE.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

The performance of KA YING GLORY was considered disappointing as compared to its most recent race start.

Before being allowed to race again, KA YING GLORY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 OLDTOWN (K105) J Orman On jumping was crowded between HANDSOME BLOND and BEAUTY MISSILE which shifted in.

In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1000 Metres was steadied to avoid SUGAR BALL.

Horse No 7 VIVA TASTE (K415) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly and was then bumped shortly after by LUCKY SAM GOR.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 8 BEAUTY MISSILE (H123) A Hamelin Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 9 ROMAN CROWN (J456) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.

Held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres.

Horse No 10 GOLDEN LUCK (H159) E C W Wong Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Home Straight endeavoured to improve into a narrow run to the inside of KA YING GLORY where there was not sufficient room to improve.

As a result GOLDEN LUCK was held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres when it shifted to the outside of KA YING GLORY.

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to LUCKY SAM GOR.

Horse No 11 HANDSOME BLOND (K241) B Thompson Bumped at the start.

The performance of HANDSOME BLOND, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, HANDSOME BLOND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 RAGING RAPIDS (J228) A Badel Bumped at the start.

Near the 350 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between AUDACIOUS PURSUIT and GOLDEN LUCK which shifted out.

Between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres was held up for clear running.

Horse No 13 LUCKY SAM GOR (K114) M Chadwick Bumped at the start.

When questioned M Chadwick stated that the instructions were from the outside barrier to endeavour to obtain a position with cover back in the field.

He said in the early stages he attempted to comply with his instructions but when runners to his inside held their position and his mount commenced to race keenly this resulted in LUCKY SAM GOR being caught very wide and without cover.

He added that passing the 1000 Metres as his mount continued to race keenly he attempted to obtain a position behind HANDSOME BLOND but when SUGAR BALL held its position to his inside LUCKY SAM GOR was then obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 14 ONLY U (J037) M F Poon Leaving the 400 Metres was steadied to avoid RAGING RAPIDS when disappointed for clear running to that runner's inside.

As a result ONLY U was held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 SECOND TO NONE (H319) K De Melo Was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and found to be lame in its left front leg.

Acting on this advice SECOND TO NONE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, SECOND TO NONE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
