Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (817) - THE PHILIP CHEN TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 GORGEOUS WIN (J008) B Avdulla Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 3 TOMODACHI KOKOROE (H303) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 4 MASTEROFMYUNIVERSE (J325) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the event Z Purton stated that after settling back in the field from its wide barrier his mount raced keenly in the middle stages.
He said in the Home Straight MASTEROFMYUNIVERSE finished the race off fairly but he was not too disappointed with its performance given that it was required to make up ground from back in the field.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 COLOURFUL KING (K227) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Y L Chung (SELF IMPROVEMENT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of COLOURFUL KING, resulting in COLOURFUL KING being checked to avoid SELF IMPROVEMENT.
In accordance with previous practices, Y L Chung was fined the sum of $35,000 in lieu of a one-day suspension.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his good race riding record.
Horse No 6 DANCING CODE (G365) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 CALL ME GLORIOUS (H410) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 8 SELF IMPROVEMENT (H337) Y L Chung Y L Chung pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 100 Metres (see COLOURFUL KING).
Horse No 9 HARMONY N BLESSED (E061) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 AERIS NOVA (J534) K C Leung On jumping was steadied when crowded between GORGEOUS WIN and COLOURFUL KING, both of which shifted ground.

Dancing Code just got up in the dying stages to deny long-time leader Harmony N Blessed for a second Sha Tin 1,200m win from 14 starts this term. Punted late, Harmony N Blessed was just collared late after getting pressured for the lead to his outside by Lady's Choice. He's given a good sight to place in three straight runs following a win. Lady's Choice kept on gamely to finish a close third after tracking the leader from gate three. He has very genuine Sha Tin 1,200m form. Self Improvement ran on steadily for fourth without threatening the top three after a one-off trip from midfield. It was one of his better runs on turf. Aeris Nova made late inroads for fifth after a rails run from behind midfield. It wasn't a bad effort in a higher grade following a win. Tomodachi Kokoroe kept on one paced after a prominent run.
