Racing Incident Report
Race Nine : (827) - COTTON TREE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 WINGS OF WAR (H162) H Bowman From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Over the final 150 Metres raced tight between GRACIOUS EXPRESS and FUN ELITE.
Horse No 2 POWER KOEPP (E301) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 NORDIC DRAGON (G467) A Hamelin Approaching the 100 Metres was bumped by VERY GRATEFUL.
After the event A Hamelin reported that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and after being taken wider when MARVEL AND GOLD commenced to give ground from the 600 Metres his mount did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 GRACIOUS EXPRESS (J188) J Orman Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by EVERSTAR which shifted out.
Leaving the 1100 Metres was steadied when crowded by POWER KOEPP which, after being taken in by GOLDEN EMPIRE (K De Melo) then shifted in and away from that runner.
K De Melo was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to correct his mounts sooner than what he did on this occasion.
Making the Home Turn was crowded for room by EVERSTAR which shifted in and away from GOLDEN EMPIRE.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 BEAUTY INFINITY (H377) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 7 MARVEL AND GOLD (K109) A Atzeni After the event A Atzeni stated that he was instructed to go forward and ride his mount in a similar manner when it barrier trialed on 12 June 2025.
He said in the early stages MARVEL AND GOLD hung out and making the turn after the 600 Metres when not in a competitive position he elected to desist from riding it out in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The racing manners and performance of MARVEL AND GOLD, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, MARVEL AND GOLD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 8 SOVEREIGN FUND (J402) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 VERY GRATEFUL (K396) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.
Near the 300 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded between NORDIC DRAGON which shifted in slightly and GOLDEN EMPIRE which shifted out.
Near the 150 Metres VERY GRATEFUL then raced tight between GOLDEN EMPIRE and NORDIC DRAGON which shifted in when giving ground and as a result made contact with NORDIC DRAGON approaching the 100 Metres.
Horse No 10 EVERSTAR (K264) M Chadwick Shortly after the start shifted out and was bumped.
Approaching the 100 Metres was eased when racing in restricted room between WINGS OF WAR and GRACIOUS EXPRESS which shifted out.
After the event M Chadwick stated that after being crossed in the middle stages his mount raced keenly and as a result did not respond strongly to his riding in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 NEVER TOO SOON (E434) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

Sovereign Fund was given a patient ride third last from gate 12 and charged home late down the outside, racing clear 50m out for a second win and first in this grade from his past five starts. Punted late Gracious Express ran on well for second after a rails run from midfield. He proved a win at his initial Valley start in May was not a fluke. Fun Elite kept on gamely for third after rushing forward to lead one off 1,000m out from gate eight. He has been holding his form all season long. Wings Of War wove a run late near the inside for fourth travelling second last from gate 11. It was a good effort carrying top weight. Power Koepp was swamped late after moving to the lead rounding the final bend following a box-seat run. The big weight took its toll on this occasion. Very Grateful ran on steadily through the centre to just miss fifth prize money after a one-off trip from midfield. He should be winning early on next season after giving a decent sight in his three local runs over the Valley 1,200m. Beauty Infinity got going late near the outside to finish next best travelling wide near the rear from gate 10.
