After coming off the leader's back 300m out following a box-seat run, second favourite Motor took control 200m out for a maiden win at his sixth start. Winning Champion stayed on very well for third after travelling effectively one-out, one-back from gate six. He had shown promise in three Griffin starts last term. Mazing Grace just got up for third without threatening the top two after a rails run from midfield. It was a much-improved effort at his second start. Dashing Maurison finished nicely through the centre to just miss a placing after making his run at the rear from an outside draw. He appreciated a step up in distance after doing his best work late for eighth in his only start last term. Sparkle And Gold made some ground late without threatening after making his run three from the rear. It was a better effort on recent starts. Favourite Field Marshal was on his tippy toes 100m out after dictating the run from gate five.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (38) - SAM SHING HANDICAP - Class 4R - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 FIELD MARSHAL (K433) Z Purton When questioned Z Purton stated that his mount travelled comfortably in the lead in the early stages although throughout the event made a respiratory noise.

He added that when asked for an effort in the Home Straight FIELD MARSHAL responded only fairly to his urgings.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be displaying an airway abnormality pending further assessment.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 MOTOR (K165) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 JUST FOLLOW ME (K332) K Teetan After the event K Teetan stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

He added that the horse also raced greenly during the running of the race and may not have appreciated the Yielding track conditions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a roarer Horse No 5 WINNING CHAMPION (K429) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.

Over the concluding stages lay in, resulting in its rider M F Poon having to direct his mount to the outside of MOTOR approaching the winning post to continue into clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 DASHING MAURISON (K374) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 7 MAZING GRACE (K166) M L Yeung In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1000 Metres got its head up when being eased to allow MOTOR to cross.

Making the turn after the 900 Metres became unbalanced when racing to the inside of FALCON HUNTER.

Horse No 10 YOUNG FIGHTER (K464) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly, resulting in its rider L Ferraris becoming unbalanced.

Horse No 11 SPARKLE AND GOLD (K259) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly and then shortly after the start raced tight between MOTOR and FALCON HUNTER which shifted in slightly.
