Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Fast Network was ridden cold from gate one before surging to the lead 150m out on the far side and just scrambling in for a sixth win from 13 local starts. He appreciated the step back to the 1,000m of wins in three of five starts last term. Sensationally-backed Raging Blizzard charged through a gap late to finish a close second after biding his time at the rear from gate three. It was a solid effort at his first try over the straight 1,000m. Magic Control ended third after improving from near the rear to briefly lead 300m out. He has very honest 1,000m form. Favourite Wunderbar whacked on one paced after brushing Magic Control near the 400m sitting near the front. He may have needed the run. Invincible Sage stayed on all right for fifth after a midfield trip. Beauty Waves only plodded over the last 100m after a prominent run near the far side from gate two. He appears to possibly be on his mark.
