Race Eight : (148) - ZHAOQING HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 BRAVE STAR (G268) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 SYMBOL OF STRENGTH (K352) C L Chau A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 GUMMY GUMMY (H089) E C W Wong Jumped only fairly.
From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 4 GOLDEN EMPIRE (E490) K De Melo Near the 900 Metres made contact with DANCING CLASSICS when both runners contested a position behind SYMBOL OF STRENGTH.
Horse No 5 REFUSETOBEENGLISH (K362) Z Purton Jumped only fairly and then was hampered when bumped by ROMANTIC SON which shifted out.
Horse No 7 ROMANTIC SON (J537) H Bentley Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Making the Home Turn was held up behind GOLDEN EMPIRE and when racing tight to the inside of DANCING CLASSICS.
Horse No 8 DANCING CLASSICS (J060) D Probert The tongue tie was refitted on arrival at the Start.
Near the 900 Metres made contact with GOLDEN EMPIRE when both runners contested a position behind SYMBOL OF STRENGTH.
Near the 600 Metres was steadied when crowded between GOLDEN EMPIRE and HAYDAY (K Teetan) which shifted in.
K Teetan was reprimanded.
In assessing the incident the Stewards were mindful that GOLDEN EMPIRE and DANCING CLASSICS had been racing tight for some distance before the interference occurred.
D Probert reported that after his mount made contact with GOLDEN EMPIRE near the 900 Metres and was then steadied when crowded near the 600 Metres it did not run on when asked for an effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 LUCKY PLANET (H235) P N Wong Apprentice P N Wong stated that her mount was able to lead the race comfortably.
She further stated that after entering the Home Straight LUCKY PLANET failed to change its lead leg and came under pressure thereafter before giving ground.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 AURORA PATCH (K097) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 THE ALL OUT (K291) A Badel Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the left side of the starting gate and then shifted out abruptly.

Brave Star had a prominent run and ran down favourite Aurora Patch 50m out for a sixth win over the Valley 1,200m from 32 starts. He was fitter third up and appreciated a return to the level of three wins last term. Aurora Patch found one too smart after leading 200m out following a speed-tracking run outside Lucky Planet. It was another good run up in class and trying the Valley following a win. Whacked late in betting, Sports Legend ran on nicely down the outside for third after a wide trip near the rear from gate 10. It was a good effort following a change in tactics second up this term. Symbol Of Strength kept on well for fourth after travelling effectively one-out, one-back. It was a much-improved effort at his third local start and first at the Valley. Romantic Son ran on well two off the fence for fifth after biding his time four from the rear. It was an improved effort third up this term, but he has fallen a point below a win in March.
