In a blanket finish of seven runners, early favourite Everstar was wide with cover behind midfield and quickened nicely to get up by a nose for a second win from 15 starts. He had been knocking on the door and was reunited with the only rider to win on him. Post-time favourite Denfield was nipped on the wire after briefly leading close to home after a rails run from midfield. He's always a chance over the Valley 1,200m. Charming Steed just missed after a prominent run one off the fence. He was able to get on track on his return to a preferrable Valley 1,200m. Fatal Blow grudgingly gave way after leading 200m out following a speed-tracking run. It was a solid run downgraded carrying topweight from a wide draw. Punted late Newborn Miracle stayed on a close fifth after a box-seat run. He's performed better following a switch to the Valley 1,200m in his past two starts. Sweet Briar finished in the mix after sitting fifth in the run on the fence from gate one. It was a good run on his season debut for his new trainer. Roman Crown stayed on nicely after a wide trip without cover from midfield.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (211) - BRIG O' DOON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 THE ALL OUT (K291) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and lost ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 ALABAMA SONG (K480) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

B Avdulla reported that with his mount racing with a hood for the first time tonight it did not travel well in the early stages and as a result became detached from the field despite his efforts to hold a more forward position.

He added in the Home Straight ALABAMA SONG responded reasonably well to his riding.

Horse No 4 EVERSTAR (K264) J Orman After travelling a short distance made contact with NEW POWER when racing tight to the inside of CHARMING STEED.

In the middle stages raced keenly.

Near the 150 Metres was hampered when bumped by ROMAN CROWN which shifted out slightly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 NEW POWER (H325) E C W Wong Bumped on the hindquarters at the start and became unbalanced.

Bumped after travelling a short distance.

Approaching the 500 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by ROMAN CROWN (H Doyle) which shifted in.

H Doyle was reprimanded.

Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his mount was crowded approaching the 500 Metres and then did not run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 SWEET BRIAR (H044) L Hewitson Near the 600 Metres lay in and made contact with the running rail.

Approaching the 300 Metres made contact with CHARMING STEED.

Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when racing tight between FATAL BLOW and CHARMING STEED, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Horse No 7 CHARMING STEED (E494) D Probert Bumped approaching the 300 Metres.

Over the concluding stages shifted in and away from DENFIELD, resulting in its rider D Probert having to correct his mount approaching the winning post.

Horse No 8 DENFIELD (G471) H Bowman Jumped only fairly, shifted out, made contact with NEW POWER and lost ground.

Near the 300 Metres was shifted to the outside of CHARMING STEED to obtain clear running and made contact with ROMAN CROWN.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 THE PROMISE (K219) M L Yeung Shortly after the start raced tight to the outside of NEWBORN MIRACLE which shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 ROMAN CROWN (J456) H Doyle Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres was eased to allow FATAL BLOW to cross.

As a result ROMAN CROWN then commenced to race keenly for some distance thereafter.

Bumped near the 300 Metres.

Near the 150 Metres shifted out and bumped with EVERSTAR.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of H Doyle, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, she was nonetheless reminded of her obligation to ensure that she fully rides her mounts out to the finish of the race.
