Recap by phillip woo

Rising Phoenix had a one-off trip from behind midfield and quickened nicely to take control 50m out for a maiden win at his ninth start. The step up to 1,400m worked the oracle. Endued zipped home late with two wider out to grab second after making his run second last from gate 12. It was a solid seasonal debut following a stable change. Smiling Falcon ran on well with one wider out to spice up the tierce after a wide and with cover trip from behind midfield. It was a vastly improved performance at his third career start. Aerovolanic found a few too good after claiming the lead 300m out following a speed-tracking run outside Ka Ying Glory. It wasn't a bad effort but has only managed fourths in two of five starts this term and is likely to need a bit of rating relief. Amazing Fun was doing his best work late down the outside for fifth after biding his time third last from gate 11. It was his best effort from five starts this term.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (254) - FAIRY KING PRAWN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 ENDUED (K033) C Williams From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 THOUSAND SPIRIT (K365) L Hewitson L Hewitson could offer no explanation for his horse's disappointing performance.

Trainer M Newnham advised that he was pleased with the horse leading into the race and stated, in his opinion, the horse may have been disadvantaged by racing to the inside but agreed it had performed below expectation.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of THOUSAND SPIRIT was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race start.

Before being allowed to race again, THOUSAND SPIRIT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 RED BRICK WARRIOR (K580) D B McMonagle Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Horse No 6 KA YING GLORY (K247) K Teetan Bounded on jumping.

K Teetan stated that after leading the event his mount gave ground in the Home Straight but he could offer no excuse for its disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 8 JUBILATION FOR ALL (K505) R Kingscote Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration to an application from Trainer C S Shum that the horse be declared a non-runner on the basis that it had been denied a fair start.

After taking evidence from Mr Shum, Jockey R Kingscote and Starter Mr A Speechley, the Stewards determined that JUBILATION FOR ALL reared simultaneously to the start being effected and on that basis the horse was declared a runner.

Accordingly, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm and an endoscopic examination also showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The barrier manners and performance of JUBILATION FOR ALL were considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, JUBILATION FOR ALL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 CALIFORNIA STAR (J123) M Chadwick Lay in in the Home Straight and near the 150 Metres shifted in after making contact with DECISION LINK.

Over the concluding stages CALIFORNIA STAR then raced tight to the inside of RAINBOW SEVEN.

M Chadwick reported that it was expected that the horse would settle back in the field as it has a tendency to miss the start.

He said today CALIFORNIA STAR jumped well and was able to hold a more forward position, however, was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 10 RISING PHOENIX (J498) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 SMILING FALCON (K459) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 12 DECISION LINK (K416) H Doyle Near the 150 Metres bumped with CALIFORNIA STAR when racing tight to that runner's inside.
