Recap by phillip woo

Raging Rapids travelled five back and one off the fence and after surging to the lead 150m out, he just held on for a second win from 14 starts. Beauty Viva dashed well down the outside for second after making his run second last from gate 11. The step back to 1,400m nearly worked the oracle. Sunday's Serenade made good ground late near the inside for third after biding his time at the rear from gate 10. He's a winner in waiting with placings in three of his past four starts across both tracks. The Heir had to settle for fourth after getting held up for a run until the 200m pole following a patient ride two from the rear. It was a better effort on his past few runs across both tracks. Golden Dream stayed on well for fifth travelling three back on the fence after a tardy start with a step up to 1,400m. He's naturally coming to hand in his three starts.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (308) - LAI CHI CHONG HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 SUNDAY'S SERENADE (J231) Z Purton Bumped on jumping.

Held up for clear running between the 350 Metres and the 200 Metres.

Near the 200 Metres was shifted to the inside of BETTER AND BETTER to obtain clear running.

At the 150 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded by BETTER AND BETTER which shifted in when giving ground.

Horse No 2 SEA CHARIOT (K358) K C Leung Held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 250 Metres.

When being shifted to the outside of PROUD BOX approaching the 200 Metres was then steadied when crowded between PROUD BOX and SUNDAY'S SERENADE which was shifting to the inside of BETTER AND BETTER.

In this incident SEA CHARIOT hung in and proved reluctant to proceed between PROUD BOX and SUNDAY'S SERENADE and near the 150 Metres was then steadied when SUNDAY'S SERENADE was taken in slightly by BETTER AND BETTER which shifted in when giving ground.

As a result SEA CHARIOT did not obtain clear running over the final 200 Metres.

Horse No 3 THE HEIR (H459) J Orman Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres.

Horse No 4 BEAUTY VIVA (K155) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.

Leaving the 300 Metres was hampered when taken wider by THE ALL ROUNDER.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 RAGING RAPIDS (J228) B Avdulla Bumped after the 300 Metres and became unbalanced.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 STAR GLOW (J429) M L Yeung M L Yeung stated that he was instructed to ride the horse where comfortable.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to make some use of his mount to go forward to avoid covering additional ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 CIRCUIT GOGO (L002) M F Poon Shifted out at the start and made contact with SUNDAY'S SERENADE.

Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 800 Metres was steadied away from GOLDEN DREAM.

Between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Horse No 8 GOLDEN DREAM (K329) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly and then was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Held up for clear running approaching the 300 Metres.

When being shifted to the outside of WIN SPEED leaving the 300 Metres GOLDEN DREAM (L Ferraris) shifted out and made contact with GOLDEN FORTUNE, resulting in that runner becoming unbalanced when taken out onto WINNING DIAMOND.

As a consequence WINNING DIAMOND and RAGING RAPIDS made contact, resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.

L Ferraris was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 9 PROUD BOX (K487) H Bowman Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 10 BETTER AND BETTER (K277) C Y Ho Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by GOLDEN FORTUNE.

C Y Ho reported that after racing outside the lead, when placed under pressure in the Home Straight, once his mount improved to the front it hung out and did not respond to his riding before giving ground in the Home Straight.

Trainer F C Lor stated that, in his opinion, BETTER AND BETTER races best when able to obtain cover.

He added that with the early and middle stages being run inside of standard time he felt this was one of the reasons why the horse was not able to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of BETTER AND BETTER was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, BETTER AND BETTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 GOLDEN FORTUNE (K500) D Probert Shortly after the start was crowded between BETTER AND BETTER and PROUD BOX which shifted out.

Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid WIN SPEED (K Teetan) which shifted in when not clear.

K Teetan was advised to exercise more care.

Bumped after the 300 Metres and became unbalanced.

Horse No 12 THE ALL ROUNDER (K402) C L Chau Leaving the 300 Metres was hampered when taken wider by RAGING RAPIDS.

Trainer P C Ng confirmed that from the outside barrier he had instructed C L Chau to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Horse No 13 WINNING DIAMOND (K216) M Guyon Bumped after the 300 Metres and became unbalanced.

When giving ground near the 150 Metres was steadied when crowded between GOLDEN FORTUNE and THE HEIR, both of which shifted ground slightly.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 14 WIN SPEED (J205) K Teetan Noted to have lost its right front plate after the race.
