Recap by phillip woo

Lucky Planet speared forward from barrier six to lead and booted clear in the straight to make it four wins from 32 starts. He relished a drop back to Class Four after some encouraging runs in a higher grade this term. Bits Superstar went forward from a wide draw to track the speed and kept on gamely to finish second. It was his third placing this season and he can break through soon. Call To Command travelled one off just forward of midfield and lifted late to snatch third at big odds. He has produced a few good runs this term. Giant Ballon drifted back to fourth last from gate 11 and ran on powerfully down the outside for fourth. He has shown some potential in recent starts and is close to a win. Second favourite Good Luck Happy sat in the box seat from the inside draw but only boxed on fairly in the straight to run fifth. He couldn't back up a close second on debut. Winning Cigar rushed forward after a modest start to settle one off in fourth and kept on OK to finish next best. Popular favourite Never Settle blew his chances at the start, settling well back and only finishing modestly for eighth.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (347) - CROISETTE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 LUCKY PLANET (H235) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 NEVER SETTLE (K417) C Y Ho On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by WINNING CIGAR which shifted out.

Near the 1100 Metres was checked when crowded between WINNING CIGAR which, after being taken out slightly by GOOD LUCK HAPPY, then shifted out further when it made slight contact with NEVER SETTLE and THE PROMISE (H T Mo) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

H T Mo was reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to straighten his mounts sooner than what he did on this occasion.

C Y Ho reported that after being checked near the 1100 Metres his mount failed to travel throughout the event, particularly with the early and middle stages of the event being run inside of standard time.

He added that in the Home Straight NEVER SETTLE finished the race off only fairly.

Trainer K W Lui stated that the horse had pleased him leading into the race and concurred with the views of Jockey Ho that the horse had been disadvantaged by being checked in the early stages of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 GIANT BALLON (K451) L Hewitson Near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid WINNING NOW.

Horse No 5 BITS SUPERSTAR (J362) Z Purton Leaving the 900 Metres was bumped by WINNING NOW when that horse was racing ungenerously.

When questioned K C Leung stated that after being bumped heavily by THE PROMISE near the 1100 Metres when that runner shifted out, his mount commenced to race keenly.

He said he was then positioned behind CALL TO COMMAND which lay in and near the 900 Metres his mount got its head up and became unbalanced when being checked to avoid CALL TO COMMAND due to it continuing to race keenly.

Horse No 8 THE PROMISE (K219) H T Mo Near the 1100 Metres made heavy contact with WINNING NOW when being corrected by its rider H T Mo.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 SONIC PURSUIT (K051) A Badel A Badel stated that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position but after jumping awkwardly and getting its head up it settled further back in the field than intended.

He said SONIC PURSUIT raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages of the event and refused to settle and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.

Trainer J Richards confirmed the instructions issued.
