Race Five : (349) - THE APM MONACO CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 THE BOOM BOX (K076) C Y Ho Near the 1400 Metres was steadied when crowded by VIVA GRACIOUSNESS which shifted in when racing ungenerously and then was unable to relieve the crowding to THE BOOM BOX when racing tight to the inside of KEEFY.
Horse No 2 KEEFY (G306) K C Leung From the 800 Metres commenced a forward move and raced wide and without cover thereafter.
Horse No 3 SILVERY BREEZE (K057) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 A AMERIC TE SPECSO (H037) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.
Near the 1300 Metres was checked when it improved behind RISING FROM ASHES when racing keenly.
A Atzeni reported that his mount raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages and in the Home Straight found it difficult to make up ground due to the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 MAX QUE (J514) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 VIVA GRACIOUSNESS (J079) A Badel Near the 1500 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid MAX QUE when that runner shifted out when being eased away from CHILL KAKA.
Horse No 12 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) H T Mo A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Firming late to start an odds-on favourite, Max Que settled two back on the fence before coming off the inside to take control 120m out en route to a decisive victory. He has raced without luck in recent starts but has a strong record of three wins and as many thirds from six starts this term. Second favourite Silvery Breeze was taken back to second last from gate 12 and stormed home one off in the straight to finish second. He too has been in great form this campaign with a win and three seconds. Thriving Brothers crossed from barrier 11 to lead and kept on soundly for third. He continues to race well. Viva Graciousness settled one off behind midfield and made a sustained run from the 700m to finish next best. It was a good performance from another unsuitable draw. The Boom Box ran on solidly from third last to finish fifth. It was an improved run under top weight after he failed over 1,800m last start. Samarkand sat in the box seat from gate one and kept on well along the inside for sixth. Chill Kaka tracked the speed but couldn't go on with it when next best. He is better suited on dirt.
