Racing Incident Report
Race One : (394) - CLEAR WATER BAY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 ALSONSO (J405) H Bowman Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by FORTUNE GOLDSADDLE.
H Bowman could offer no excuse for his mount's disappointing performance.
Trainer M Newnham stated that he had been satisfied with the horse leading into the race and could offer no explanation for the horse's disappointing run.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 BEST FARM (K579) C L Chau Approaching the 150 Metres improved into a narrow run between CONSPIRATOR and BUSTLING CITY and near the 50 Metres made contact with CONSPIRATOR when taken out by BUSTLING CITY.
Horse No 3 BUSTLING CITY (L210) Z Purton Z Purton reported that his mount, which was having its first race start, raced greenly during the race and finished off only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 COMET RADIANCE (L067) Y L Chung Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Near the 400 Metres lay in and as a result blundered and became unbalanced.
Horse No 5 FORTUNE GOLDSADDLE (L090) H T Mo On jumping became unbalanced when bumped by COMET RADIANCE which shifted out.
Horse No 6 GREEN FIELD PEARL (K460) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Over the final 500 Metres was held up for clear running and as a result was unable to be tested.
Horse No 7 LEADING DRAGON (L083) K Teetan When placed under pressure in the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out.
Horse No 8 MASTER LUCKY (K582) D B McMonagle Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 POET'S REIGN (L021) J Orman Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between CIRRUS SPEED and MASTER LUCKY which shifted in.
Between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up behind ALSONSO.
After being shifted to the inside of ALSONSO then had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres when being shifted to the inside of COMET RADIANCE and LAHORE to improve.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 SILVER SPURS (J043) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 SPICY BONUS (L086) M Chadwick Slow to begin.
Over the final 50 Metres was held up behind LEADING DRAGON and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish.
Horse No 12 LAHORE (K043) A Badel Noted to have bled from both nostrils after the race.
Before being allowed to race again, LAHORE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 13 CONSPIRATOR (K090) L Hewitson Over the final 400 Metres was held up and could not be ridden out to the finish.
Over the concluding stages was bumped on the hindquarters by BEST FARM which shifted out after improving into a narrow run between CONSPIRATOR and BUSTLING CITY.
Horse No 14 CIRRUS SPEED (K279) M F Poon Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start made contact with POET'S REIGN.

Master Lucky sat a close fourth in the centre of the track from gate seven before surging to the lead near the 200m and just holding held on for the win. Poet's Reign rallied nicely to finish a close second after getting squeezed up at the start and getting badly held up until peeling into the open on the far side 200m out. He should have won with a clean trip. Silver Spurs kept on well for third after prompting the pace from 10. He was able to bring some good form at the Valley to Sha Tin. Lahore just missed out on third after travelling better than midfield on the stands side. It was another honest effort following a second last start. Cirrus Speed stayed on better for fifth after travelling on the back of the leaders in the centre of the track.
