Racing Incident Report
Race Ten : (403) - KAT O HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 THE BOOM BOX (K076) D B McMonagle Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when awkwardly placed to the inside of NATURAL NUMBERS which shifted in slightly.
Horse No 2 CHIU CHOW SPIRIT (H175) H Bowman Bumped at the start.
H Bowman stated that his mount was disadvantaged by being obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) Z Purton Z Purton stated that after jumping awkwardly and losing ground his mount settled further back in the field than intended.
He said BEAUTY CRESCENT raced fiercely throughout the early and middle stages and refused to settle and as a consequence did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 SERAPH GABRIEL (L108) J McDonald Jumped only fairly and then made contact with CHIU CHOW SPIRIT.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 NATURAL NUMBERS (L166) M F Poon Briefly held up on the Home Turn.
Near the 350 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between SERAPH GABRIEL and CALIFORNIA WAVES.
In this incident NATURAL NUMBERS made contact with CALIFORNIA WAVES as it improved into the run.
Horse No 6 WROTE A NEW PAGE (K226) C Y Ho Near the 1200 Metres was bumped by BEAUTY CRESCENT when that horse was racing keenly.
C Y Ho reported that, in his opinion, the horse races better at Happy Valley.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 LUCKY SAM GOR (K114) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 THE RED HARE (K312) M Guyon Near the 300 Metres was directed to the inside of BEAUTY CRESCENT and ENDUED to continue into clear running.
Near the 200 Metres blundered when being shifted to the inside of LIGHTNESS OF BEING.
After the 200 Metres THE RED HARE was eased and shifted to the outside of ARIEL to continue into clear running.
M Guyon advised that from a wide barrier he was instructed to find cover but his mount was obliged to settle back in the field when unable to comply with those instructions in the early stages.
Horse No 10 CALIFORNIA WAVES (K477) A Badel Near the 350 Metres was bumped and taken wider by NATURAL NUMBERS.
Horse No 11 ENDUED (K033) A Atzeni From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 12 LIGHTNESS OF BEING (K159) Y L Chung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Punted late Lucky Sam Gor travelled fourth last and three wide from gate 10 before peeling widest out 400m out and quickening nicely to overhaul favourite Seraph Gabriel 50m out for a fourth win from his past six starts. Seraph Gabriel found one too smart after leading 200m out following a one-off trip from midfield. It was a better effort after an unlucky effort on his local debut last month. Natural Numbers ran on nicely for third at massive odds following a patient ride fifth last from gate nine. It was a vastly-improved effort at his third local start. Endued rallied well for fourth after straightening three deep following a patient ride third last along the inside from gate 14. The Boom Box came on late through the centre for fifth after biding his time second last from gate 11. It was a pleasing effort carrying top weight at his first start over 1,600m.
