Recap by phillip woo

Power Of Vitam came from midfield and through the centre to win going away 50m out following a one-off trip from midfield. The Red Hare ran into one too good after a prominent run. He continues to race well in his past three starts. Lovero found a couple too good after leading 100m out following a wide trip without cover from better than midfield. He's produced a win, two seconds and a third from his past four starts following both a stable change and move to 1,600m. Firming favourite Without Compare grudgingly gave way for fourth after dictating the run from gate four. It was another honest performance. Superb Kid ran on nicely to nearly grab fourth after making his run five back on the fence. It was his best effort from eighth outings this term.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten : (464) - PRIMULA HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters

Horse No 2 FLYING LUCK (J339) E C W Wong From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Raced keenly in the early stages.

Leaving the 250 Metres made contact with ARMOR GOLDEN EAGLE due to both runners shifting ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 LOVERO (H451) H Bentley Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 4 BLAZING WUKONG (K335) D B McMonagle Near the 450 Metres was hampered when taken wider by POWER OF VITAM which shifted out to improve.

D B McMonagle stated that he was asked to take up a forward position.

He said as a result he made some use of the horse in the early stages where he was able to obtain a three wide position with cover behind LOVERO near the 800 Metres.

He added as a result of the use he made of the horse in the early stages BLAZING WUKONG finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 THE RED HARE (K312) M Guyon When questioned regarding his riding from the 600 Metres M Guyon stated that after following one of the favoured runners BEAUTY ALLIANCE he was satisfied to follow that horse into the race as he felt it would provide his mount with the opportunity to improve with cover.

He said when LOVERO improved to his outside near the 600 Metres he was reluctant to shift out as, in his opinion, THE RED HARE does not run out a strong 1600 Metres and he felt it would be too early to make a move from that stage.

He added after being held up between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres when being shifted to the outside of LOVERO he was able to improve with the winner POWER OF VITAM but that runner finished stronger over the concluding stages although his mount continued to run on well.

After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Guyon were reasonable in the circumstances.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 WINNING GOLD (H461) J Orman On jumping blundered and then was bumped by ARMOR GOLDEN EAGLE which shifted in.

Horse No 7 SUPERB KID (H298) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
