Recap by phillip woo

Lucky Generations enjoyed a rails run in midfield and picked up nicely through the centre to just edge Oriental Surprise for a second win over the Valley 1,200m from his past four starts. Oriental Surprise was just pipped on the wire after leading 10m out following a lovely ride to find the box seat from gate 10. He keeps promising without delivering on a win line this season. King Alloy kept on gamely for third after leading from gate 11. He appreciated a return to the track and trip of two earlier placings. Chill Master made late ground down the outside for fourth after making his run one from the rear. It was a good run after being diagnosed to be a roarer last month. Triumphant Warrior gradually faded after working hard to find a spot one off in second from gate 12. It was a good effort following a stable change and fetlock surgery. My Flying Angel ran on without threatening after making his run three from the rear. He performs better at Sha Tin. Sonic Boom failed to figure after a prominent run. Favourite Taihang Scenery was another to disappoint after settling fifth on the fence from gate two.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (466) - BOWEN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) D B McMonagle After travelling a short distance shifted in and made contact with RICH HORSE after being bumped by CHILL MASTER.

Near the 350 Metres COUNTRY DANCER attempted to improve into a run between CHILL MASTER and RICH HORSE when there was not sufficient room to do so.

A short distance later MY FLYING ANGEL then shifted out to improve, resulting in RICH HORSE shifting out and COUNTRY DANCER then having to be checked and blundering when it made contact with CHILL MASTER.

The Stewards were satisfied that there was not sufficient room for Jockey D B McMonagle to improve at that point and advised him in similar circumstances he should ensure that he exercises more care.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained a laceration to its right front fetlock.

Horse No 2 TOP TO SKY (K339) K C Leung Lay in near the 600 Metres and made slight contact with LUCKY GENERATIONS.

K C Leung reported that, in his opinion, the horse would be better suited by being stepped back up in distance to 1400 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 CHILL MASTER (J319) C L Chau Shortly after the start was crowded by ORIENTAL SURPRISE which shifted in slightly.

Near the 350 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by COUNTRY DANCER.

Horse No 8 YOU'REMYEVERYTHING (E413) K Teetan Near the 400 Metres was momentarily crowded by MY FLYING ANGEL (A Badel) which shifted in.

A Badel was advised to exercise more care.

Horse No 10 TAIHANG SCENERY (J314) L Hewitson Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

L Hewitson stated that approaching the first turn his mount got its head up and shifted out, resulting in it making contact with SONIC BOOM.

He said TAIHANG SCENERY then continued to race ungenerously for some distance thereafter before giving ground in the Home Straight.

He added, in his opinion, TAIHANG SCENERY would be better suited over 1000 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of TAIHANG SCENERY was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, TAIHANG SCENERY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028) Z Purton Z Purton stated that from a wide barrier his instructions were to take up a forward position.
