Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (467) - KENNEDY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 2 AUTOMATED (K177) M L Yeung Shifted in on jumping and made contact with SIR CHARGE.
Was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 3 SIR CHARGE (K361) D B McMonagle Bumped on jumping.
D B McMonagle advised that he was instructed to take up a forward position.
Trainer D Eustace confirmed the instructions and stated he issued such instructions as SIR CHARGE had been racing in a disappointing manner when being ridden back in the field.
He added his decision to go forward was also influenced by the fact that SIR CHARGE had performed well when ridden in a forward position when it raced in Australia.
Horse No 4 IMPRESSIVE CHAMP (K522) B Avdulla In the middle stages raced keenly when endeavouring to find a position with cover behind BITS SUPERSTAR.
When giving ground over the concluding stages was eased when it shifted in towards FULL OF LAUGHTER.
Horse No 5 NORTHERN FIRE BALL (J488) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 TOPSPIN KING (L141) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 7 AWESOME TREASURE (E435) E C W Wong E C W Wong stated that the intention was to lead the event, however, his mount did not show sufficient pace in the early stages to do so.
Horse No 8 BITS SUPERSTAR (J362) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 FULL OF LAUGHTER (L017) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.
Raced keenly in the middle stages.
Raced greenly in the Home Straight, lay in and as a consequence proved difficult to ride out.
Horse No 10 ZEPHYR (K414) L Hewitson From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid VICTOR THE RAPID.
Near the 250 Metres made slight contact with HAPPY BUDDIES when being shifted to the outside of VICTOR THE RAPID.
Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when racing in restricted room between AUTOMATED and HAPPY BUDDIES which lay in.
Horse No 11 WINNING CIGAR (K422) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 12 HAPPY BUDDIES (K344) K Teetan Bumped near the 250 Metres.
Lay in over the final 200 Metres.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Punted late Northern Fire Ball worked hard to lead 1,050m out from gate nine but kept finding for a third win over the track and trip from 19 career runs. Favourite Bits Superstar had his chance but couldn't reel in the winner after a one-out, one-back trip. He continues to race well without winning from seven runs this term. Victor The Rapid ran home nicely through the centre for third after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was a good effort carrying 2lb more following a win. Awesome Treasure just held his ground after handing up the early lead to travel box seat. It was an okay effort following a stable change. Punted late Winning Cigar was doing his best work late near the inside for fifth after making his run five back on the fence. He's produced better runs in his past two starts. Happy Buddies ran on well with one wider out after straightening near the rear from gate 12. It was his best effort from three outings at the Valley. Automated ran on without threatening after working into the clear 150m out following a patient ride third last from gate seven. It was an improved effort at his second run down in Class Four.
