Recap by phillip woo

Rainbow Seven had a rails run in midfield and never went around a horse to get up 100m out for a first win at his 10th start. Argento Ocean found one too good after a box-seat run. It was another honest performance over the Valley 1,200m. Autumn Vibes dashed late through the centre for third after biding his time second last from gate 10. It was a good run on his return to the track and trip of a fourth in November. Bundle Of Charm ran on steadily for fourth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was an improved effort on his past couple following a downgrade. Call To Command ran on well for fifth after biding his time two from the rear. He produced a career-best effort when third two runs ago over this same track and trip. Great Spirit was next best after getting every chance following a one-off trip from midfield. Ka Ying Warrior stopped as expected after leading from gate four near the 1,000m. Fatal Blow only plodded after a wide and with cover trip from behind midfield. Early favourite Bustling City faded tamely after settling one-out, one-back following a tardy start. He's still a work in progress.

When questioned Z Purton stated that his mount raced keenly throughout the event and refused to settle.

He said as a result for some distance in the middle stages he was obliged to restrain his mount to avoid SILVER SPURS.

He added due to the manner in which the horse raced during the early and middle stages it was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

He further stated that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount blundered leaving the 200 Metres and as a result he did not fully test it over the concluding stages when not in a competitive position.

Trainer D A Hayes advised that the horse had pleased him leading into tonight's race but having regard to the performance he would now give the horse a freshen-up before its next race start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of BUSTLING CITY was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, BUSTLING CITY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 5 SILVER SPURS (J043) E C W Wong In the early stages was shifted in at an acute angle before being corrected near the 1000 Metres when it improved to the outside of KA YING WARRIOR.

Jockey Wong stated that from the outside barrier he had to ride his mount along in the early stages to go forward.

He said when unable to cross runners in the early stages he made the first turn wide.

He added that after obtaining a position outside KA YING WARRIOR in the Back Straight his mount failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.
