Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Gameplayer Elite had a one-off trip from better than midfield and responded nicely to get up 50m out for a first win at his 19th local start. Genius Baby ran on nicely to finish a close second after switching into the clear 150m out from behind midfield. It was a better effort on his return to the track and trip of a win in December. Second favourite Sky Cap found a couple too good after getting his own way in front from gate nine. He was able to deliver a better performance on his return to his preferred Valley 1,200m. Holmes A Court whacked on one paced after chasing the leader just off the fence from gate one. It was his best effort from nine local starts. Flash Star ran on nicely widest out for fifth after making his run second last from gate 11. He was able to produce a better effort by reverting to the patient tactics of a win in December. Viva Boss stayed on all right after getting posted three wide without cover near the front. Giddy Up only plodded after getting every chance fourth on the inside from gate four. Grand Mastermind was withdrawn by order of the stewards on veterinary advice.
