Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (496) - SOMERSET HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 THE CONCENTRATION (H465) D B McMonagle Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 GALE SAGA (J152) K Teetan Bumped shortly after the start.
K Teetan reported that his mount settled back in the field and found it difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 BLING BLING GENIUS (J397) H Bowman Bumped shortly after the start.
Near the 1000 Metres was eased to avoid HE WAS ME (A Atzeni) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.
A Atzeni was advised to exercise more care.
H Bowman stated that when the early stages of the event were run outside of standard time his mount held a more forward position than he had anticipated.
Horse No 4 EXCEED THE WISH (J480) L Hewitson Approaching the 900 Metres raced keenly when positioned tight to the inside of BLING BLING GENIUS.
Between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 6 GENERAL SMART (K138) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 PANDA LEGEND (H002) J Orman After being crossed by EXCEED THE WISH approaching the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and then raced tight to the inside of FIGHT TIME for a short distance thereafter.
Horse No 8 WINDICATOR FAMILY (H419) A Badel Slow to begin.
Near the 350 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of THE CONCENTRATION to continue into clear running.
Horse No 9 DRACO (J115) L Ferraris Throughout the early and middle stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1000 Metres got its head up when awkwardly placed between CASA LEGEND and GALE SAGA.
L Ferraris stated that his mount settled back in the field and in the Home Straight he was satisfied with the horse's finishing effort.
Horse No 10 FIGHT TIME (H409) B Avdulla B Avdulla stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 HE WAS ME (J535) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 CASA LEGEND (G126) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 13 SMART ENGINEER (K244) M L Yeung M L Yeung reported that the instructions were to find a position back in the field with cover.
He said throughout the early stages SMART ENGINEER raced keenly as he endeavoured to comply with those instructions.
He added as a result he was obliged to allow the horse to stride forward to avoid covering additional ground.
He said after crossing HE WAS ME near the 800 Metres his mount raced too keenly in the lead and set a faster pace than he would have liked.
Horse No 14 THE WAY WE WIN (J493) M Chadwick Near the 200 Metres M Chadwick dropped his right rein and rode the horse to the finish without the use of the rein.
M Chadwick reported that his mount was one-paced when under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No COSMO LIGHT (J379) Y L Chung Withdrawn on 7.3.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front injury) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter FIGHT TIME.
Before being allowed to race again, COSMO LIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

He Was Me tracked the speed before getting his head in front 50m out and just holding on by a whisker for a first win at his 20th start. It was a solid effort. General Smart ran on strongly to make it a lip on the wire after straightening three off the fence travelling third last following a slow start. The Concentration made it very close on the wire along the inside after a rails run from better than midfield. It was another solid effort carrying top weight following back-to-back wins. Bling Bling Genius plugged on without threatening the first three after a prominent run one off with cover. It was another honest effort. Podium made good ground late three from the right upon straightening for fifth after making his run fifth last and three wide from gate six. It wasn't a bad run.
