Recap by phillip woo

Nezha straightened fourth last and quickened brilliantly through the centre to get up in the concluding stages for a first win at his seventh local start. California Star dashed well to snatch second after making his run fifth last following a tardy start as usual. He ran his usual honest race on the surface. Night Purosangue found a couple just too good after leading 100m out settling in the box seat 1,200m out from gate 11. He's mixing his form but clearly does act best on this surface. Bull Attitude ran on nicely near the outside for fourth after making his run fifth last from gate three. He's produced two honest runs on this surface. Never Peter Out gradually faded after setting a quick pace from gate eight. He's shown progress following a downgrade in his past three starts. Favourite Happy Universe only plodded when asked for a response following a one-off trip from midfield. He couldn't back up a rallying second last start at his initial dirt 1,650m run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (519) - NAM KOK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 NEZHA (K494) J Orman Jumped only fairly and then was crowded by SUPER LOVE which shifted out.

Between the 600 Metres and the 500 Metres was taken back through the field when SUPER LOVE gave ground.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SUPER LOVE (K118) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with NEZHA.

Shifted out approaching the 1500 Metres and was bumped.

A Atzeni stated that his mount did not appreciate racing on the All Weather surface.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of SUPER LOVE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPER LOVE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 FOREVER FOLKS (G463) D B McMonagle Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 NEVER PETER OUT (J200) H Bowman When questioned regarding his mount leading H Bowman stated that the intention was to hold a handy position but not lead.

He said after his mount jumped well and he was positioned wide in the early stages he elected to allow the horse to stride forward and lead.

He said when joined by YODA'S CHOICE in the early stages he was satisfied to hold the lead as that runner did not place pressure on NEVER PETER OUT and his horse was racing in a good rhythm at that point.

He added whilst the section between the 1200 Metres and the 800 Metres was run inside of standard time he did not attempt to restrain his mount as at its most recent start the horse had not travelled well and he felt this was the best way to have it finish the race off in the Home Straight.

Horse No 7 HAPPY UNIVERSE (J533) R Kingscote Near the 1400 Metres HAPPY UNIVERSE and GOOD GOOD were crowded by NIGHT PUROSANGUE (Y L Chung) which shifted in and away from YODA'S CHOICE.
