Recap by phillip woo

Leslie straightened second last and quickened nicely down the outside to get up in the concluding stages for a fifth win and second over the dirt 1,650m this term from 32 career starts. Supreme Agility finished strongly to snatch second after making his run five back and three wide with cover. It was a good performance at his first run back following a bleed in December, but he does like the all-weather surface. Hinokami Kagura lost second late after poking his head in front 100m out following a box-seat run. It was a solid effort at his initial run over the dirt 1,650m. Bull Attitude came on late near the inside to just miss a placing after biding his time second last from gate 13. He's run well in his past three starts following a switch to dirt racing. Favourite Never Peter Out just missed a spot in the quartet after a prominent run one off the fence from gate one. He does appear from his past few runs to be close to a rating bottom. Night Purosangue stayed on next best after a wide trip with cover travelling just worse than midfield from gate 12. He's one to keep safe from a better draw.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (567) - NAM SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 SUPREME AGILITY (J267) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 COLOURFUL GAN (L054) B Avdulla Began only fairly.

Horse No 3 GOOD LUCK BABE (K016) H Bowman Near the 50 Metres was bumped by BULL ATTITUDE which lay in.

When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted tonight, particularly the middle stages of the race, H Bowman explained that his instructions were to go forward if not lead.

He said he was able to do that without putting his mount under too much pressure in the early stages.

He added that from the 1200 Metres he was aware that GOOD LUCK BABE commenced to increase the tempo, however, he was not in a position to restrain his mount any slower as the more he tried to the more his mount resisted his efforts.

When it was explained that the sectionals between the 1200 Metres and the 800 Metres were run well inside standard time Jockey Bowman acknowledged that he was aware GOOD LUCK BABE was going too quickly.

He further added that if he tried to go for another hold with his reins the situation would have only worsened given his mount was still very keen.

He said as a result of this GOOD LUCK BABE was under pressure from the 200 Metres.

Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions and was of the opinion that GOOD LUCK BABE was unable to run out the 1650 Metres and would place the horse back to the 1200 Metres at its next race start where it is likely that GOOD LUCK BABE would settle better in its races.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 NEVER PETER OUT (J200) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 NOVA KNIGHT (K518) M L Yeung Began only fairly.

The performance of NOVA KNIGHT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, NOVA KNIGHT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 BLOSSOMY (L037) M F Poon In the early stages over-raced and lay out rounding the first turn passing the 1400 Metres.

Horse No 9 FASHION LEGEND (J080) L Ferraris From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Badly held up from the 400 Metres and failed to obtain clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.

Horse No 10 BULL ATTITUDE (K305) L Hewitson Blundered on jumping.

After passing the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 100 Metres.

Lay in under pressure inside the 100 Metres and made contact with GOOD LUCK BABE near the 50 Metres.

Horse No 12 LESLIE (E471) R Kingscote Jumped only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 14 FOREMOST TEDDY (J058) K Teetan After passing the 150 Metres raced in restricted room between NIGHT PUROSANGUE and LAKESHORE HERO.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
