Racing Incident Report
Race Five : (569) - PING SHEK HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 OSI HONOUR (K232) Y L Chung Y L Chung reported that his mount was making a respiratory noise during the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.
Horse No 2 CALIFORNIA STAR (J123) Z Purton Slow to begin.
Z Purton reported that his mount was not suited by the step-up in distance tonight as it raced too keenly due to the slower tempo mid-race and would be better suited back over the 1600 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 HAPPY UNIVERSE (J533) K C Leung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 SHANGHAI STYLE (J093) H Bowman Slow to begin.
After passing the 200 Metres got unbalanced after being bumped by FIREFOOT and at the same time lay in for most of the Home Straight.
Horse No 8 THE LION KING (K265) J Orman J Orman explained that he was instructed to try and get a position well off the speed, however, once caught wide in the early stages he elected to take up a more forward position outside the leader.
Horse No 9 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) M F Poon Slow into stride.
Horse No 10 GLORIOUS RYDER (K290) A Badel Began only fairly.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 YODA'S CHOICE (J146) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 SPECIAL HEDGE (H354) H T Mo Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 13 FIREFOOT (J183) K Teetan After passing the 200 Metres shifted out under pressure and bumped the hindquarters of SHANGHAI STYLE, resulting in both horses getting unbalanced.

Happy Universe settled prominently and just reeled in long-time leader Yoda's Choice for a second win at his second win and first this term from 20 starts. He appreciated a step up to 1,800m after producing an eye-catching second. Yoda's Choice would not go down without a fight after leading from gate seven. He has honest form over the dirt 1,800m. Shanghai Style ran on nicely near the outside for third after making his run towards the rear from gate five. He had trialled well leading into this run. Firefoot ran on steadily for fourth after making his run wide with cover travelling behind midfield. It was another honest effort on this surface. Mega Force ran on steadily for fifth after a rails run from midfield. He is zero-from-16 in Hong Kong but does seem to race best on this surface. Punted late The Lion King was on his tippy toes 100m out after rushing forward three wide from gate 14 to attack the speed just under the 1,200m. It wasn't a hopeless effort at his initial run on the surface. Favourite California Star never landed a blow after making his run second last from gate 10. The step up to 1,800m backfired.
