Age: 64. Francis Lui graduated from the HKJC Apprentice Jockeys' School to ride 36 winners as a licensed jockey between 1975 and 1982, and later became an assistant trainer. He received his own licence to train in 1996/97. In recent years Lui enjoyed plenty of success with Golden Sixty, the first horse in the history of Hong Kong racing to have secured three consecutive Horse of the Year crowns. Lui achieved his best total of 67 winners in 2022/23, the season in which Golden Sixty added three more G1 wins to his tally, taking his overall record to 25 wins and three placings from 29 starts and extending his record prize money to HK$147.93 million. Golden Sixty also stands alone as Hong Kong's most prolific Group 1 winner, eclipsing the feats of Beauty Generation by tallying an unmatched nine Group 1 wins after sealing a third Champions Mile win in succession in April 2023. In September 2022, Lui saddled his 800th winner in Hong Kong with Seaweed Fortune. His standout stable star prior to Golden Sixty was sprinter Lucky Bubbles, who gave the trainer his first Group 1 win in 2017 when he took the Chairman's Sprint Prize.
