The race played in favour of the leaders. Able Warrior cornered narrowly on top after jumping alertly from gate nine, found another gear to dash a length clear at the 300m and kept on gamely for a first win at his 16 th start. Startling Power settled one off in second, range up on the leader approaching the final bend and found one better in the drive to the wire. Plunged late, Confucius Elite settled midfield and one off the rails, rounded the final bend with two wider out and ran on steadily without menacing the placegetters. Early favourite Mellifluent steadied and lost some ground coming to the first bend after making his run worse than midfield, straightened three-to-four deep and ran on steadily to snare a Quartet spot in his initial run on the dirt. Late-fancied favourite, Fair Wind travelled fourth from the rear and one off the rails, swung the final bend with three wider out and made some ground without menacing. Jade Pippo slotted one off in fourth from a wide gate, straightened three deep and was yielding ground over the final 150m. Loads Of Joy was weak in the run to the wire following a box-seat run with blinkers applied.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five: (134)-THE PO LEUNG KUK CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1200Metres

Whilst in the saddling stalls, SUNSHINE KID had its right front plate refitted.

SUNSHINE KID was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.

STARTLING POWER shifted in at the start and bumped SUNSHINE KID which in turn shifted in, resulting in MELLIFLUENT being hampered when crowded for room outside LOADS OF JOY.

FAIR WIND and ZERO ENERGY ACT bumped at the start.

From the outside barrier, VICTOR EMPEROR began only fairly.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, FAIR WIND failed to muster speed.

Near the 1000 Metres, CONFUCIUS ELITE became unbalanced when being shifted in across the heels of JADE PIPPO.

Making the turn near the 700 Metres, MELLIFLUENT lost ground after getting its head on the side and shifting out when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CONFUCIUS ELITE.

For the majority of the race, VICTOR EMPEROR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight raced greenly under pressure.

FAIR WIND, ABLE WARRIOR and STARTLING POWER were sent for sampling.
