Recap by phillip woo

Early favourite Expectator settled a distant third near the rails, made his move three deep at the 500m, swept to the front four from the right at the 150m and kept on nicely for a second straight win. Sensationally-backed to jump favourite, Golden Scalpel made his run along the fence in fourth, cornered five deep and finished well to grab Win It in deep stretch for second. Win It worked hard from an outside gate to eventually settle second behind the good pace of Jade Pippo, rushed to the front entering the straight and grudgingly gave way under pressure. One Of A Kind settled behind midfield along the rails, cornered three-to-four deep and ran on steadily without menacing in fourth. Very Well made his run third from the rear along the rails after a sluggish break, stayed to the inside upon straightening and was doing some nice work late. Specked late, Medic Swordsman settled one off in midfield, rallied five deep upon straightening and kept on one-paced.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four: (227)-LONGINES INTERNATIONAL JOCKEYS' CHAMPIONSHIP (HANDICAP)- 1ST LEG (Sec2) - Class 4 - 1650Metres

PANTHER RUN was withdrawn on 9.12.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (severe arthritis both front fetlocks) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GLORY BOY (I Ortiz Jr).

Before being allowed to race again, PANTHER RUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

On jumping, ALWAYS SOMETHING, which began awkwardly, was steadied away from the heels of EXPECTATOR which shifted out after being bumped by OCEAN POWER which in turn was taken out by JADE PIPPO.

After this, ALWAYS SOMETHING was shifted across behind runners.

ONE OF A KIND began awkwardly.

JADE PIPPO lost its left hind plate at the start.

Despite being ridden along in the early stages, VERY WELL failed to muster speed and passing the 1600 Metres was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.

From a wide barrier, GLORY BOY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Passing the 1100 Metres, ALWAYS SOMETHING and GLORY BOY raced tight.

After the 1000 Metres, ALWAYS SOMETHING was left racing wide and without cover.

Passing the 200 Metres, VERY WELL was shifted to the inside of JADE PIPPO which was giving ground.

OCEAN POWER lost its left front plate after the winning post.

A veterinary inspection of OCEAN POWER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, OCEAN POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

EXPECTATOR and GOLDEN SCALPEL were sent for sampling.
