Racing Incident Report
Race Eight: (494)-LOK FU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Metres
SCIMITAR was withdrawn on 24.3.15 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VERDANE (D Whyte).Before being allowed to race again, SCIMITAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY JOURNEY began only fairly.
TURBO JEWELLERY got its head on the side and shifted out at the start, resulting in AXIOM being bumped and taken out onto FRANCE VALOUR which was crowded for room inside ROCK THE TREE.
From a wide barrier, CHARLIE VICTOR was slow to begin and was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, HORSE APLENTY was slow to muster speed.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHARLIE VICTOR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of IMPERIAL CONCORDE.
Also passing the winning post on the first occasion, WINNING INSTINCT was steadied away from the heels of AXIOM.
Shortly after entering the Straight, VERDANE got its head on the side, lay in and bumped ROCK THE TREE which became unbalanced.
For the majority of the race, ROCK THE TREE travelled wide and without cover.
A veterinary inspection of FRANCE VALOUR and HAPPY JOURNEY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
CARTOON FAY FAY, VERDANE and TURBO JEWELLERY were sent for sampling.
GENERAL:
1.
Trainer C Fownes was fined the sum of $5,000 for breaching Stewards' Instruction 32 of the Rules of Racing in that his stable strength currently exceeds the allowable number.
Mr Fownes was directed to ensure that his stable strength complies with the Rules by close of business on Thursday, 26 March 2015.
2.
Trainer A Lee was fined the sum of $10,000 for entering COPY STAR to race at the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 29 March 2015 when that horse is currently under a restriction.
COPY STAR was required to pass an official barrier trial and an official veterinary examination following the horse's most recent start at the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 8 March 2015.

Additional Veterinary Reports from Sha Tin Racemeeting on 21 March 2014 Subsequent official veterinary inspections (without endoscopy) of MY CUP OVERFLOWS, DRAGON BACHELOR, E-SUPER, GLORY BOY, GOLDWEAVER, CHINA GOOD, SOLAR DRAGON, GLORIOUS AVENUE, MODERN FORTUNE, KIDS AND WIN, DANE PATROL, COUNTRY MELODY, MULTIMAX, THOR THE GREATEST, RAZOR QUEST, SUPREME PROFIT, LOVELY DELOVELY, TEOFILO CALVA, PACKING PINS and CHARITY KINGDOM revealed no apparent abnormality.

Racing Laboratory tests of FORTUNE TERRITORY, BEST JADE TRIUMPH, TRACKER, THUNDER DASH, UNIQUE JOYFUL, BEAR RAPPER, ALL MY GAIN, JOYFUL MOMENTS, GOLD DRAGON, ROUGE ET BLANC, GIGGLES FOREVER, TOP ACT, ENSURING, RIGHTEOUS, LUCKY DAY, ABLE FRIEND, BEAUTY FLAME, SUPER TALENT, DASHING FELLOW, REDKIRK WARRIOR, LUGER, GOT FLY, LET ME GO and EROICO (15.3.15) proved negative.

Verdane was posted deep with cover in midfield from gate 14, swung the final bend with three wider out, hit the front 100m out and just held off the shade unlucky Turbo Jewellery for the win. Turbo Jewellery settled ahead of midfield and one off the rails, was held up briefly four deep behind the erratic Cartoon Fay Fay and finished well over the last 100m to make it close. Favourite Cartoon Fay Fay was effectively one-out, one-back in the run, advanced to the front 280m out and shifted about while giving ground under pressure. Winning Instinct travelled third from the rear and deep with cover, swung the final bend with one wider out and closed off reasonably well to grab a Quartet spot. Imperial Concorde was ridden patiently second from the rear, pushed widest out upon straightening and was making good progress late. Horse Aplenty was ridden hesitantly and was stopping 100m out. Axiom settled behind midfield and three deep with cover, swung the final bend six deep and kept plugging away without menacing.
