Southchina Command travelled second from the rear, peeled into the clear with three wider out at the 250m and finished willingly to run down Bornfree 80m out for a third trip success this term. He was suited by the good pace up front. Bornfree hugged the rail behind midfield, swung the final bend with two wider out, briefly hit the front 100m out and found one too smart in the end. Cool Pal bombed the start, took off 800m out to park three deep without cover in the leading group 600m out, straightened five deep and kept on gamely for a placing. Favourite Medic Swordsman was nicely placed one off the fence fore of midfield, straightened four deep and stayed on all right after having to slam on the brakes between runners 180m out. Oriental Fantasia cornered a length on top after setting a genuine pace and was stopping 100m out. Plunged late, Telecom Prince made some ground without menacing after saving ground in midfield. Enchanting Diamond ran on steadily without ever looking a threat widest out after a one off run with cover worse than midfield. Great Speed was under the pump to stay in touch 550m out after sitting one off and was giving ground 200m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race One: (272)-URANUS HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Metres

LITTLE RAINFOREST was withdrawn on 22.12.15 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter BORNFREE (H W Lai).

LET'S GOAL was also withdrawn on 22.12.15 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter TELECOM PRINCE (R Fourie).

Before being allowed to race again, LITTLE RAINFOREST and LET'S GOAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

U Rispoli (RUGBY AMBASSADOR) was fined the sum of $2,000 for presenting himself to be weighed out with the incorrect saddle cloth number.

Just prior to the start being effected, COOL PAL put its head down and as a consequence missed the start.

GREAT SPEED shifted in at the start and bumped ZACHARY which became unbalanced.

Passing the 1200 Metres, TELECOM PRINCE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of LUCKY BOLE which was taken in momentarily by GREAT SPEED (K C Leung).

Whilst the Stewards acknowledged that Jockey Leung had immediately relieved the tightening to LUCKY BOLE, he was nonetheless advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

After passing the 1000 Metres, TELECOM PRINCE was again steadied when racing in restricted room inside MEDIC SWORDSMAN.

After passing the 900 Metres, COOL PAL was ridden along to assume a forward position, however, was then obliged to race wide and without cover until straightening.

For some distance after the 200 Metres, MEDIC SWORDSMAN was inconvenienced when awkwardly placed inside the heels of COOL PAL (M L Yeung) which shifted in under pressure.

M L Yeung was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Near the 150 Metres, GREAT SPEED, which was racing tight to the inside of MEDIC SWORDSMAN, made contact with TELECOM PRINCE and as a consequence became unbalanced.

After the 150 Metres, MEDIC SWORDSMAN was shifted to the outside of COOL PAL to obtain clear running.

Throughout the race, CASA JUNIOR travelled wide and without cover.

The performance of CASA JUNIOR, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, CASA JUNIOR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection of ENCHANTING DIAMOND and GREAT SPEED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
