Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Werther was nicely rated one off the fence settled fore of midfield, moved closer coming to the straight, peeled into the open five deep, worked to a narrow lead from stablemate Victory Magic at the 220m and just out battled that one in a ding-dong finish for. Victory Magic nearly pulled off a mild upset after rushing to the lead near the inside at the 300m out following a quiet trip behind midfield along the fence. Giovanni Canaletto bided his time third from the rear, was held up early straight until gaining a clear run six deep at the 300m and finished strongly to finish a non-threatening third. He's crying out for 2,400m. Consort ran on nicely with three wider out to just miss a placing after travelling three deep with cover behind midfield. Punted late, Helene Paragon was ridden for luck at the rear of the field from a wide gate, worked to third at the 200m and peaked on his run 100m out. Lucky Girl stayed on nicely three deep. It was a huge run despite a huge ratings disadvantage. Sun Jewellery was only holding his ground following a one-off run worse than midfield. He didn't get the trip. Eastern Express worked to the front 450m out and was on his tippy toes 250m out.
